Lohia Group's stand at PlastIndia 2026 in Delhi

At PlastIndia 2026 in Delhi, the Kanpur-headquartered Lohia Group showcased its production technologies for the plastic woven fabric and flexible packaging industry, spanning from extrusion to conversion. The showcase included solutions for FIBC (flexible intermediate bulk containers) and other industrial packaging applications.

The display began with extrusion lines, where polypropylene (PP) granules are processed into tapes, which are then stretched and wound onto bobbins. These bobbins are then fed into circular looms, which can produce various fabric structures, including leno, venti, and plain woven fabric. The woven fabric, produced in either a tubular or flat form, serves as the base material for a range of industrial packaging applications.

The production then moves to coating and lamination. This stage enables extrusion coating of PP woven fabric or lamination with substrates such as BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) film for high-quality graphics. This combination enhances both the functional and aesthetic properties of the final product.

The process of integrating woven fabric with printed BOPP films and extrusion coating creates a high-strength, durable composite material. This is particularly relevant for applications where barrier properties, strength, and print quality are critical.

Further processing involves printing technologies such as flexographic printing, designed for PP and HDPE woven fabric substrates, capable of printing up to 8 colors.

In the final stage, conversion systems transform the fabric into finished products such as sacks or FIBCs through cutting, stitching, and finishing processes. These solutions are used by packaging manufacturers globally to produce industrial bags at scale.

The Hemmomatic converting machine, designed for automated hemming of woven sacks, was also highlighted. The process involves folding and securing the mouth of the bag to prevent fraying, improving both bag integrity and handling performance.

In addition to primary production technologies, Lohia Group highlighted its recycling solutions, which enable the reprocessing of post-industrial and post-consumer PP waste back into usable raw material. These systems are designed to support circular manufacturing practices by improving material recovery, reducing waste, and enhancing overall resource efficiency within the woven plastics value chain.

Since 1981, the Lohia Corp has delivered comprehensive machinery solutions for the plastic woven fabric industry. From advanced circular looms to developing a complete portfolio across extrusion, winding, lamination, conversion, recycling, and multifilament solutions, it enables customers to meet global packaging demands.

Other products include Industry 4.0-enabled solutions, integrating sensors, software, and data systems to enable real-time monitoring and operational efficiency.

Its Academy for Technical Textiles (TTRC) in Kanpur operates as a dedicated division, offering an integrated platform for applied learning, industrial capability development, and collaborative research in technical textiles.

Through structured programs, the center addresses operational, supervisory, and technical skill development for the raffia industry. These include operator training, a supervisor development program for diploma and engineering graduates, and specialized modules for mechanical and electrical maintenance personnel.
