Cirplus, a leading European platform for procuring recycled plastics, has launched its operations in the Indian market under the newly formed entity Cirplus India in a strategic move to cater to the growing demand for recycled plastics in India and the broader Asian markets.

Cirplus India will leverage the combined expertise and resources of Cirplus Global and a high-profile team of local material & supply chain experts. The new entity will focus on increasing the availability and quality of recycled plastics for regional and global use, driving the transition from virgin to recycled materials to foster a circular economy in support of India and Asia’s sustainable development goals.

Cirplus India will provide a comprehensive range of services, including supplier matching, material aggregation and qualification, logistics, and quality control to help plastic processors access high-quality recycled plastics at scale in reliable quantities. The company will bring its proven expertise in standardizing recyclates (being the initiator of the world’s first standards on high-quality recycling and digitization, DIN SPEC 91446/EN 18065) and creating the digital infrastructure necessary to manage even more complex material streams, introducing Digital Product Passports that comply with the most recent European legislation.

To this end, Ramesh Parasuraman has been appointed as Managing Director for Cirplus India. Parasuraman, brings a total of 30 years of experience in the plastics industry, currently serving as founder & managing director of Allied Solutions India and president of the Society of Plastics Engineers India.

“I am thrilled to partner with Cirplus to bring its proven model and expertise for digitally enabled sourcing of post-consumer and post-industrial recycled plastics to the Indian and Asian markets,” said Parasuraman. “By strengthening our presence in Asia and India we offer brand owners and converters around the world a comprehensive, convenient, and cost-efficient way of meeting their sourcing targets for recycled plastics – a key objective in light of tightening regional and local legislation mandating the obligatory use of recycled content in packaging, automotive and beyond.”

Christian Schiller, founder & CEO of Cirplus, said, “Our partnership with Ramesh and his team marks a pivotal moment for the recycled plastics markets in India and the greater region. We are excited to create synergies between our Asian and European operations to transform the landscape of plastics recycling at a global scale. This new enterprise will not only address one of the most pressing environmental challenges but also create significant opportunities for businesses and communities across India and Asia.”

Cirplus India will provide tailored solutions to support local businesses in transitioning to meet regulatory requirements and reach their sustainability goals. It will initiate educational programs, workshops, and campaigns to promote sustainable practices amongst businesses and consumers while fostering collaborations with local governments, NGOs, and industry stakeholders. Additionally, it will partner with key players in the industry to develop cutting-edge technologies and solutions that address challenges specific to the region.

Cirplus India will be headquartered in Mumbai, with a country-wide presence to ensure prompt and premium service delivery. It will be supported by a close-knit team of highly motivated and skilled technical professionals with extensive product knowledge.
