Paktek Industrial, Taiwan, specializes in manufacturing an auto folder-gluer alongside cooperating with other postpress converting machine manufacturers to provide a complete solution line of paper box-making equipment. Speaking to Packaging South Asia about the company’s plan for IndiaCorr Expo 2015 to be held at Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, from 6 to 8 October, TH Yu, general manager, Paktek Industrial, says, “After many successful installations at well-known printing and packaging companies in India, Paktek’s plan is to reinforce its relationship with established clients and get to know new friends through IndiaCorr Expo 2015, which also offers a chance to introduce new Paktek products to customers.”

Paktek is planning to demonstrate its one-piece and two-piece-in-one manual folder-gluer model, KS-1600M, at Stand B17. The compact machine design has been built using Paktek’s Auto 2-Gun Cold Glue and 2- Gun Hot Melt Injection System. This system helps secure significant bonding even under extreme temperature change during global transportation. Moreover, KS-1600M is designed with an efficient regulation unit.

According to Yu, “For KS-1600M, the maximum opening width of a one piece blank can be up to 3,200 mm. Although bigger models are also available, applicable materials are E, C, B, A and AB corrugated board in designs of irregular and RSC cartons and it takes about 5 to 15 minutes for changeover. The average production speed of KS-1600M is about 500 to
800 sheets an hour.”

No matter how big or small the scale of printing and packaging companies, KS-1600Moffers a cost-effective solution for short-run orders and occupies less space. In addition to this model, Paktek has been manufacturing auto-folder gluers for various cartons in solid, corrugated boards and plastic with strong bonding and no scratches; an Auto Flute Laminator and Cardboard to Cardboard Laminator; and sheeters for cutting plastic film, which is easy to pack and is fully automatic. Yu says, “The PLC Positioning System for folder-gluers and an Auto Pile Turner for laminators is very helpful in increasing productivity and reducing labour.”

When queried about the plans of the company for the rest of the year, Yu says, “Our plan is to expand our research and development team and continue to be a strong partner to our clients by offering excellent and cost-effective equipment and services. 2015 has been a good year for Paktek with new products and penetration of brand new markets abroad. In Taiwan too, demand in the domestic market is getting stronger. With the support of our manufacturing plants in Taipei in Taiwan and Shanghai in China, we plan to expand in the near future as well.”

Despite the concerns of slow economic growth in some parts of the world, the Indian corrugated packaging industry is witnessing a boom due to economic reforms initiated by the new government. Paktek’s speciality is to provide a wide range of auto folder-gluers, auto flute laminators and sheeters with multiple functions. As a reliable partner who provides high quality converting machines and services for the corrugated packaging industry, Paktek is looking at expanding its business in India.

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
