Nilpeter’s FA-6 meets converters’ needs

Produces cost-effective flexible packaging, self-adhesive labels

The FA-6 is perfect for production of in-line laminates, wrap-around labels, tube laminates, pouches, shrink sleeves and more

Increasing volumes of shorter run jobs with smaller repeat lengths now drive the fast-growing global flexible packaging market. At the same time, brand owners prefer single suppliers for all, or most, of their packaging needs, while demanding more from them. Nilpeter helps converters remain competitively agile with the fully servo-driven FA-6 mid-web flexo press. It produces high quality, cost-effective flexible packaging, as well as self-adhesive labels, using multiple substrates.

Fully-customized configurations can include one or more of Nilpeter’s state-ofthe-artmulti-purposeMP-6 converting units. Designedas ‘quick-change’ platforms, they have automatic unwind and rewind capabilities. Film-based products include wrap-around labels, tube laminates, pouches, sachets, and shrink sleeves. MP-6 units offer multiple high intensity  air drying and UV-curing of process work, inks, adhesives and coatings.

The new 22-inch FA-6 is designed for short-run productions of new,
innovative packaging solutions

In-line functions include high-speed solvent and water-based flexo printing with a reverse-side capability. A UV-cured lamination capability includes glossy effects, surface protection, barrier solutions, and cold foiling. There is also a solvent dry lamination capability for special laminates, barriers, pouches, and sachets.

Other value-adding options include the G-6 gravure unit. Using easy-load cassettes, it  prints metallic inks, opaque white and special coatings ,which increase the decorative options for flexible packaging. Reversible ink-heads allow front or reverse-side printing. G-6 units have adjustable doctor blades, an ink circulation system, viscosity control and a drying and vacuum system for use with solvent-based products.

As other Nilpeter presses with in the FA-Line, the FA-6 is configured with a series of unique functions and systems designed for optimum efficiency. They include the Clean inking system for water-based or UV-cured flexo inks, and the PowerLink control system with individual job-change functions. The FA-6 operates to high tolerance standards, while the dot-gain characteristics for flexo printing ensure high quality products.

The Nilpeter FA-6has a maximum print width of 560mm(22 inches). Its innovative sleeve system permits an extra-short web path with easy loading of tooling to reduce substrate wastage. The repeat length is 304.8 to 635 mm (12 to 22 inches) for flexo and 457.2 to 635 mm (18 to 25 inches) for diecutting. The press has a top mechanical speed of 175 metres a minute (574 feet a minute). The gravure repeat length of the G-6 is 457.2 to 635 mm (18 to 25 inches).

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
