The successful label was printed on a Codimag Viva with Aniflo technology.

The Achertäler printing company won several awards at the renowned international FINAT Awards 2024 competition. Two labels with motifs by the Ortenau artist Bastian Fiala, which he had specially made for a limited Pinot Noir edition of the Waldulm winegrowers’ cooperative, won three first prices. In addition to the victories in the ‘Combination Printing’ and ‘Group Winner of Printing Processes’ categories, the artist’s edition also won the title of ‘Best in Show.’

Frank Neumann, managing director of the Achertäler printing company explains, “We are incredibly proud of these awards. They symbolically show the team performance our company is capable of. Printing a work of art as a pictorial reproduction is challenging. In order to recreate all the effects of the original, we had to pull out all the stops with the printing and finishing technology available to us. The implementation of this special label was only possible thanks to the diverse expertise of all the specialist departments involved.”

In addition to the Waldulm winegrowers’ cooperative and the artist Bastian Fiala, Zeller+Gmelin was also involved as a supplier of the printing inks. The limited edition of the labels was printed on a Codimag Viva printing machine with Aniflo technology. The Toracur W580 ink series from Zeller+Gmelin was used for waterless offset printing. The advantages of the W580 series include high color intensity and abrasion resistance as the basis for a high-quality printing result.

Before the Toracur W580 series was launched, the Achertäler printing company had been looking for suitable offset printing inks for the waterless variant for some time. “The W580 is the first ink series for this application that works for us without any restrictions,” says Frank Neumann, adding: “Another advantage is that we prefer monopigmented inks.”
