Prateek Graphics, a subsidiary of Prateek Metal Industries, is the first Indian buyer of Epson’s latest innovation, the SurePress L-6534VW UV all-in-one label press, installed at its new 25,000-square-foot facility in Rai, Sonipat, which was inaugurated in January 2024.

Established in 1994, the company is a leading manufacturer of printed labels and stickers in North India, offering a comprehensive range of high-quality solutions for diverse segments, with a particular emphasis on the electronics and home appliances industries.

With the new digital production press, the company plans to meet the growing demand for new-age label printing, short-run jobs, and variable data solutions. The press can print matt, glossy, spot UV, and varnish printing in a single pass. It is a 6-color press — CMYK, white, varnish/orange, and can print on multiple substrates, including textured papers ranging from 18 mm to 320 mm microns.

The SurePress L-6534W digital LED UV inkjet press can produce high-quality, durable labels and integrates all the functions required for label production. The SurePress L-6534VW printer has been engineered to optimize productivity and minimize downtime, offering additional print modes of 30 mpm and 50 mpm for faster, high-quality print runs. Epson developed and manufactured the printheads, inks, LED pinning and curing lamp units, media feeding, control systems, and RIP software in-house.

Prateek Graphics supplies roll-form labels, paper stickers, PU dome labels, vinyl stickers, polycarbonate membrane stickers, and metal plates to clients across industries — electronics and appliances, automotive decals, pharmaceutical and medical labels, consumer goods, commercial equipment, and more. Its customers are Bajaj, Usha, LG, Sunflame, Prestige, among others.

During a visit to the plant, we met Manit Arora, son of one of the founders of the company. Manit, who is pursuing his BBA degree along with learning the ropes of the business, took us on a tour of the plant. He gave insights on the operations and provided inputs on the significance of the SurePress for the company.

Quality was non-negotiable, and the press has helped elevate the standard of finished products. A lot of considerations took place before getting the press, and it was able to tick all the boxes with its high speed, substrate versatility, high-quality output, and the auto-cleaning feature of the PrecisionCore printheads that minimizes wastage and optimizes performance. The inline digital UV varnish is like the icing on the cake of this user-friendly press.”

Designed for short to mid-volume jobs of up to 1 million linear meters per month, the SurePress L-6534VW produces consistent color and an outstanding finish at speeds of up to 50 mpm. Its PrecisionCore printheads deliver excellent print quality in up to 600 x 1200 dpi resolution. By using Epson’s Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT), the Epson Digital Label Press produces ultra-sharp definitions with droplets as small as 3.2 pl.

Alongside the new Epson SurePress press, the company owns an AccurioPrint C4065 and Accuriolabel 190 from Konica Minolta, an HP Latex 360 printer, a cutting table from Zund, doming machines from Color Dec, and about a dozen screen printers. At the moment, the company is attempting to strongly penetrate the automobile segment with its enhanced offerings.
