he new AWP-REVO Ecosystem is specially designed to offer a complete sustainable solution for small-format flexographic platemaking needs.

Asahi Photoproducts, a pioneer in sustainable flexographic plate technology and a division of Asahi Kasei, will exhibit at the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) from November 5 to 10, 2025 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai.

Asahi Kasei will present innovations from several divisions at the group booth in Hall 3, Booth 3C3-02 (Intelligent Technology Zone). The company will introduce the AWP-REVO Ecosystem, a next-generation platemaking solution that requires no detergents in processing and enables up to 90% water reuse. At the core of the system is the AWP-REVO plate, engineered for excellent print quality, consistent performance, and reduced press downtime — supporting Asahi’s global solvent zero strategy.

“Asahi Photoproducts continues to push the boundaries of sustainability in flexographic printing,” said Yoshihiko Sato, general manager of technical center of Asahi Photoproducts in Suzhou China. “The AWP-REVO Ecosystem is designed to deliver consistent high-quality results while helping printers reduce VOC impact and reuse water efficiently, proving that sustainability and productivity can go hand in hand.”

The program will bring together industry leaders and experts to discuss the latest regulations for VOC and CO₂ emissions in the packaging printing industry, pathways to carbon neutrality by 2060, and new collaborative projects for sustainable production

Second AWP Environment Event at CIIE

On Friday, November 7, from 10:00 to 11:00, Asahi Photoproducts will host its second AWP Environment Event on the event stage within the Asahi booth.

The event is designed not only for invited guests, but also to reach a much broader audience across China through CCTV, other TV stations, and major social networking channels. With CIIE being one of the country’s most prominent government-organized exhibitions – frequently attended and followed by leading brand owners and converters, the visibility of this event will extend well beyond the fairground.

“CIIE will provide a global stage for innovation, collaboration, and a sustainable future,” said Akihiro Kato, senior general manager, Asahi Kasei Photoproducts Division. “With the introduction of our AWP-REVO Ecosystem and plate, we will take another important step on our solvent zero journey. We believe these technologies will empower printers in China and around the world to achieve both higher efficiency and a lower environmental footprint, supporting the global pathway to carbon neutrality.

During the event, Asahi will also share results from its ongoing CO₂ emissions survey for packaging printing, conducted with the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication since 2023. These findings demonstrate the quantitative advantages of flexographic printing in China.

“As brand owners and converters look for sustainable solutions, the Recycling, Reuse, and Reduction (3R) of packaging substrates has gained attention,” said Yuji Suzuki, technical support professional, Asahi Kasei. “Equally important is the printing process itself, which represents the face of the product. Our research shows that flexographic printing can reduce CO₂ emissions without VOCs, offering strong potential to support China’s carbon neutrality target. With the AWP-REVO Ecosystem, we are ideally positioned to enable this transition and help accelerate the adoption of flexographic printing in place of solvent gravure.”

Industry Dialogue Continues at CI-FLEXO Annual Meeting

Later on November 7, following its morning event at CIIE, Asahi Photoproducts will also take part in the CI-FLEXO Annual Meeting at the Shanghai Greenland Conference Center. At this key industry forum, Yoshihiko Sato will give a presentation on solvent zero and the future of flexographic printing, reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting the flexographic community in China with sustainable technologies and driving progress toward carbon neutrality.
