At PackMach Asia 2025, Shreyash Patil, vertical head – P&A at Worldpack Automation Systems, walked visitors through the company’s latest wraparound labelling technology, highlighting how made-in-India engineering is driving both domestic and global growth.
“Our core focus is on labelling machines. What we’re showing here is our wraparound labelling machine designed specifically for cylindrical bottles,” Patil said. “We have integrated a high-speed, high-precision technology along with a vision inspection camera to improve accuracy and reliability.”
Explaining the working of the system, he said the machine applies labels by wrapping them precisely around the container, while the vision camera continuously scans for defects. “If there is any inconsistency in the label, the system automatically rejects the bottle. That way, only correctly labelled products move forward in the line,” he added.
The machine is primarily designed for applications across pharma, beverages, and other sectors that use cylindrical containers. “We also offer variants that handle square bottles. That requires some change in parts and customization, but that’s something we regularly do,” Patil noted. “In fact, we customize machines to handle multiple SKUs on a single platform if customers want that flexibility.”
Beyond labelling, the company integrates printing and verification features. “We can incorporate different types of printers — laser, inkjet or thermal — to print batch codes and variable data. The vision camera then verifies whether the code has been printed correctly before the bottle proceeds further,” he said.
Patil emphasized that the company’s machines are fully designed and manufactured in India. “Everything is completely made in India. Our manufacturing facility is located in Rabale, Navi Mumbai,” he said.
Worldpack caters to a wide range of industries, spanning pharmaceuticals, food, beverages, and chemicals. “We have worked with pharma customers like Sun Pharma, and in food with companies like HUL. We also serve chemical and beverage manufacturers. Wherever a customer needs reliable labelling, we step in,” he said.
Discussing industry trends, Patil said demand for automation is rising rapidly. “India is now becoming a manufacturing and production hub. As output increases, the need for efficient machines also increases. We’re also seeing strong growth in end-of-line automation, especially in print-and-apply systems,” he said.
On exports, he added, “We are currently supplying to around 28 countries, including the US, Africa, parts of Europe, Russia, and Asia. That global footprint shows the confidence customers have in Indian-made machinery.”
