Chemline India, the flagship company of the Chemline Group, a manufacturer of adhesives and coatings for the paper-printing, packaging, converting, and other industries, showcased its entire product portfolio at Pamex 2026.

In a conversation with Packaging South Asia, Ravindranath Goel, managing director, Chemline, spoke about the company’s journey, growth, and its entire product range. “I started Chemline 35 years ago from scratch. I am a first-generation businessman,” Goel said.

Goel recalled the early days, explaining how with virtually no initial investment, the company relied heavily on research and development to build its foundation. From labeling adhesives, Chemline expanded into paper printing and packaging adhesives, and subsequently into hot-melt adhesives, barrier coatings, and label stocks.

“Today, the company positions itself as a multi-product supplier, addressing a wide range of requirements across label manufacturing, flexible packaging, and paper-based applications.”

One of the key highlights at Chemline’s stand was the launch of its indigenously developed CCK (clay-coated kraft) paper. Traditionally imported in large quantities, CCK paper is used as a release base in label stocks and sheets. While domestic production has begun in limited capacities, availability remains inconsistent.

“We have developed our own clay-coated craft paper, which is used as a release-based paper in label stocks and sheets,” Goel said. By localizing production, Chemline aims to provide a stable supply alternative to converters and label stock manufacturers. The target customers include manufacturers of label stocks and industrial tapes—segments where consistent quality and release performance are critical.

According to Goel, the event attracted a strong visitor profile from the paper printing, packaging, label stock, and adhesives segments. “This exhibition has visitors looking for paper printing and packaging, label stocks and related adhesives, which we manufacture,” he said. The company witnessed a steady footfall at its stand, he said.

Goel emphasized the structural importance of adhesives in the packaging value chain. “Adhesive is a very critical component of the final packaging,” he said, pointing to applications such as film lamination, varnishing, side pasting of cartons, and adhesive layers in label stocks. As India’s packaging industry continues to expand at a healthy pace, he believes the adhesive sector will grow as well—although rising competition is shaping the market dynamics.

On the company’s plans, Goel said Chemline is preparing to scale its presence in barrier-coated products aimed at reducing single-use plastic dependence. “We are coming in a very big way in barrier-coated products—a replacement for one-time plastic use products,” Goel said. Applications under focus include barrier-coated food wrapping papers and coated substrates for cups and containers.
