KG Flexx, a BOPP and metallized film manufacturer for packaging and allied industries, participated in PlastIndia 2026 at Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam for the first time, highlighting its range of films.

Dharmendra Mishra, director of the Ahmedabad-based company, called the participation at PlastIndia a branding exercise, as it not only displayed its presence in the North Indian market but also gained insight into the region’s demands and leveraged the opportunity to meet customers from diverse fields.

Established in July 2021, KG Flexx is the joint initiative of the promoters of the Kataria Group and the YPG groups in Gujarat. It commissioned its BOPP film line in December 2024 to produce films for flexible packaging and Industrial applications.

Speaking on the company’s plans, Mishra said that as a strategic decision, the company is moving toward specialty films and has started manufacturing a sizeable portion of 5-layer films.

Thus far, KG Flexx has developed more than 25 film grades, including pearl label films with varying densities, metallized pearlized films, high OD barrier films, white opaque films, and matt-surface films for premium aesthetics.

The company has also launched EVOH-based ultra-barrier films, aligning with sustainability goals and the rising demand for recyclable structures. Although focused on western India, particularly Gujarat and Maharashtra, it has posted representatives in other regions to build its presence.

Enhancing its capacity, the company has ordered a new high-performance BOPP extrusion line from Bruckner Maschinenbau that will complement the existing 8.7-meter-wide, 5-layer Bruckner line. It owns Bobst Expert K5 vacuum metallizing machines with the Bobst alu-bond process. The current BOPP line can produce 51,000 TPA, while the metallized film capacity is 12,000 TPA.

Mishra said, “North India is a very competitive market, and price-sensitive too. So instead of entering a race, we would rather opt for specialized markets. Our current capacity, with just one Bruckner line, allows us to produce somewhere between 2,500 and 3,000 tons per month. Once our new line is set up and operational, we plan to expand our reach to the northern markets as well.”

The mix of speciality and high-output lines is designed to enable the company to enhance its output capacity. The new Bruckner BOPP line is expected to be operational in the first quarter of FY 2027-28.

The 3-layer line will produce films with a width of 10.4 meters at a speed of up to 700 mpm, significantly enhancing the company’s capacity and efficiency. In approximately 15 to 20 months from now, KG Flexx’ biaxial BOPP film production is projected to surge to 6,000–7,000 tons per month, although the rated capacity will be considerably higher.
