At Pamex 2026 Mumbai, Baumer hhs GmbH (part of the Baumer Group) highlighted its expertise in high-precision glue application and quality assurance systems, with a focus on solutions for folding carton, corrugated board production, and packaging industries.

Baumer’s stand showcased an entry-level cold glue system designed for folding carton applications, particularly crash-lock bottom cartons. The company also highlighted the newly launched X-Melt Fusion hot melt melting tank at the show.

Vaibhav Kulkarni, business head of gluing system, Baumer hhs GmbH, told Packaging South Asia, “We at Baumer are focusing on high-speed applications where high-quality output is critical.”

Talking about the machine showcased, he emphasized the importance of precision in gluing operations, especially at high production speeds. “These machines run up to 300 meters per minute with an accuracy of 1 mm at that speed,” he noted. “Delivering a 1 mm dot size at 300 meters per minute is high-tech technology for any folder-gluer.”

In carton converting, glue application is often a decisive factor in final box quality. Kulkarni pointed out that even if the folder-gluer machine itself is relatively affordable, the gluing system plays a disproportionately critical role in ensuring structural integrity. “Without a proper glue system, the box will not close correctly. That is why customers are willing to invest in quality.”

Mentioning the recent launch of the new X-Melt Fusion hot melt melting tank, Kulkarni described it as an energy-efficient advancement designed to reduce melting time and minimize machine downtime.

With this system, we can melt 4 kg of glue in just 15 minutes,” he explained, adding that the melting rate is approximately 50% faster than conventional systems. This translates into measurable energy savings for converters.

Another significant innovation is the maintenance-friendly design. “The piston pump can be changed within one minute,” Kulkarni said. In traditional systems, pump replacement can take 30 to 45 minutes and often requires stopping the entire production line. By reducing maintenance time drastically, the new system enables higher uptime and improved productivity.

Industry evolution

Reflecting on the broader packaging landscape, Kulkarni observed a significant transformation over the past decade and a half. He noted a visible shift from traditional family-run operations toward more structured, professionally managed setups, with mergers and consolidation shaping the industry.

At the same time, machine quality has improved significantly,” he said. The influx of Chinese equipment into the Indian market has, in his view, pushed local manufacturers to upgrade their own product standards. “Local manufacturing has improved a lot. And customer expectations are growing day by day.”

For Baumer hhs, this evolving demand environment reinforces the need for technological advancement and customer-centric product development. Kulkarni said exhibitions serve not only as sales platforms but also as feedback hubs that help the company refine and innovate.

He described Pamex as one of the most important exhibitions for the company in India. “We participate in every edition,” he said, noting footfall has steadily increased over the years. What stands out, according to him, is the quality of visitors. “It’s not just entry-level or managerial staff. Many business owners are visiting the show.”

With Mumbai being a major industrial hub, the exhibition attracts decision-makers from across the packaging value chain. Alongside other major platforms such as Printpack India, he considers Pamex among the leading packaging exhibitions in the country.

The expectation is not only to grow business, but to understand customer requirements and identify where products need modification,” he said. According to him, long-term negotiations and ongoing relationships are a significant part of the company’s exhibition strategy.
