Leading Indian companies are acquiring the Novacut die-cutting machines

Bobst’s Power Register system is about twenty years old, but it has kept evolving. From 2021, the Accuregister has adapted its best attributes, including lateral correction of the pile, lateral and longitudinal correction of processed sheets for registration, double-sheet sensing, and automatic synchronisation of sheet arrival, specifically to the Novacut diecutters. The new sheet-register system thus enables very short setup times in the die-cutting process. At the same time, it reduces almost 80% stops caused by the feeder or on the feedtable. Waste is reduced in both the setup process and during production, which also makes the production process and the products more sustainable.

Accuregister aligns the sheets at full speed, without mechanical stops, ‘contactless’, and its reliability and efficiency enable processing light materials like paper, thin IML film, and litho-laminated corrugated board more easily. Leading Indian monocarton, litho-laminated microflute carton, and in-mold label producers have seen the multiple benefits, and they are acquiring Novact die-cutting machines with the highly accurate and productive system. These include Ajanta Printpack, Award Offset, ITC P&SPD, Parksons Packaging, Printman, Temple Packaging, TCPL Packaging, and TM Printers.

Replacing the traditional contact type registration system of push and pull, when the sheets are fed into the diecutter, the system calculates within milliseconds the corrections required and automatically remedies them as the sheets accelerate; over a wide correcting range, up to ±6mm in forward direction and ±13mm in lateral direction – even with transparent material, reducing production stops by 80%, and guarantees 100% no-sheet-edge contact.

The Accuregister systems are equipped with an auto-teach-in function that automatically calibrates its cameras according to the print on the sheet, eliminating possible human errors and enabling faster set-up while making job changeover easier for the operator. For litho-laminated corrugated boxes that require extreme precision, and their thickness can range from 2mm to 4 mm, Accuregister is of great help. And since there is no touch with front lays and pull-push guides, the camera reads the edge of the board or print mark and introduces the sheet into the machine, drastically reducing stoppages.

Key features and benefits of the Bobst Accuregister include its contactless technology eliminating the need for traditional ‘push-pull’ guiding, which prevents damage to delicate or thin substrates, increased accuracy for enabling precise ‘cut-to-print’ registration, essential for folding cartons with intricate designs, embossing, or braille. The inline system improves productivity by reducing almost 80% of the stoppages related to feeding and improving register quality and works across a wide range of substrates such as paper, cartonboard, solid boards, and corrugated board. The system can be integrated with Bobst’s HMI Sphere and Bobst Connect, automating the setup process, providing production data, and reducing the skill level of the operator to set a die cutter.
