Munish and Tarun Katyal began trading offset consumables in 1993 and were Technova dealers for the Delhi-NCR market before starting Anupama Printing Solutions. They started Anupama Printing Solutions in Noida as an offset prepress trade house in 2009, subsequently transitioning into flexo platemaking with a Kodak NX system. Having expanded with branches in Baddi and Haridwar, the family-owned company has added Sachit and Mohit Katyal to its management.
On a recent visit to Anupama, we met Sachit Katyal, who spoke about the recent investment in the Xsys Thermoflex 50 x 80-inch laser imager with Catena E LED exposure, expansion, and the growing flexo market. Katyal says Anupama became the first plant in India with Catena technology with the Xsys Thermoflex installation. The new system from Xsys has open workflow compatibility with all major RIPs and software.
Catena is a modular, automated, and touch-free flexographic plate-making system designed to streamline prepress production for the packaging, label, and folding carton industries. It removes manual steps from the workflow to reduce waste, improve print consistency, and efficiency. Catena is an open technology whereby Anupam will be able expose plates from various manufacturers for high productivity. Customers can also create their own customized exposure recipes based on their experience and the particular job requirements.
With the Xsys Thermoflex, Katyal is hopeful of further expanding its North India flexo printer customer base. “We had booked an Xsys Thermoflex imager during the LabelExpo Brussels in 2019 (which was canceled during the pandemic). Moreover, we have a long association with Prasenjit Das, Xsys’ general manager for South Asia from his earlier stints at Dupont and Macdermid. While our past experiences laid the foundation for the new Xsys Thermoflex, we wanted a bigger flexo plate output format for the growing Delhi-NCR market,” Katyal said.
“With the latest installation, we are aiming for faster production along with better traction in the corrugated, mid- and wide-web flexo, and UV flexo markets,” says Katyal, adding that they will now be able to manufacture flexo plates for the TV and fridge boxes, which were not possible in their earlier 42 x 60-inch size system.
Das says that Anupama is among the top eight repro houses in India in terms of quality and volume. “The new Xsys Thermoflex is the fastest machine available today in this generation for the LAMS plates with a speed of 6 square meters an hour. This is the first machine in the 50 x 80-inch format in South Asia after the XSYS-MacDermid merger. It is also the first installation with Catena technology in the South Asia market.”
The machine’s other advantages, according to Das, are that its exposure speed doesn’t drop drastically when you add partial plates in comparison to other systems. “The Catena technology provides fast LED exposure. Its ease of use, flexibility, and productivity make it different than the competition. As compared to other equipment with a plate database in the machine, customers can play with the relief height in the latest XSYS Thermoflex.”
“Xsys machines,” he says, “are manufactured in Belgium. We are giving Anupama the best support so that we have a good base to start in India.”
Expansion after Covid
The company-owned 200 square meter Noida plant contains a Kodak NX, an Esko Crystal 42 x 60-inch system and the recently acquired and commissioned Xsys Thermoflex. After the Covid-19 pandemic, Anupama Printing Solutions went on an expansion spree, adding a second unit in the HPSIDC industrial area in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. The Baddi plant, on a 500-square-meter plot, houses a Kodak NX and the Esko CDI 48 x 35-inch system purchased during the pandemic. It also contains a Laser Ablation Mask Surface technology for digital plates.
The third unit, in a rented 2400 square foot space in the Sidcul Industrial Area in Haridwar, opened its doors in March 2026. Esko Spark 42 x 60-inch and a Kodak NX system are currently operational in Haridwar. Apart from Delhi-NCR, Anupama has flexo printer clients across North India in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. “East India is a growing market, and we are planning to expand our customer base there,” Katyal said.
While Anupama is looking at further growth and new opportunities in the near future, Katyal says these plans have been disrupted because of the US-Israeli war on Iran.
