In a press release datelined Ypres, Belgium – 17 June 2026, XSYS, a global supplier of integrated solutions for the flexographic printing industry and also present in India, has announced the commercial availability of its Thermoflex Edge 80, first introduced at Labelexpo 2025. The company says the third generation of its laser imaging platform is the fastest flexo plate imager available on the market. Because of its speed and high grey level screening tech, the new imager could be of particular interest to flexo plate trade houses in India.
Developed and manufactured at the XSYS equipment facility in Ypres, Belgium, the Thermoflex Edge 80 sets a new benchmark in flexo prepress performance. With imaging speeds of up to 15 square meters an hour – said to be up to twice as fast as competing systems – the imager significantly increases plate production capacity without compromising print quality. Its open architecture ensures seamless integration into all major prepress workflows.
A key innovation of the Thermoflex Edge 80 is its Woodpecker Nano 2400 surface screening technology. Building on the proven Nano 2000 platform, Nano 2400 operates at 2400 ppi with zero data loss, delivering the highest number of gray levels in flexo imaging. The result is finer detail, smoother solids, and outstanding print consistency, particularly in demanding flexible packaging applications. Critically, these quality gains come without any speed penalty: the Thermoflex Edge 80 maintains speeds of up to 10 square meters and hour even with Nano 2000 surface screening active, and up to 6.5 square meters an hour with Nano 2400.
Designed for maximum uptime with remote diagnostics and real-time monitoring via ProServX Cloud, and rapid intervention from XSYS’ global network of flexo experts, the new digital imager enables continuous production and proactive maintenance. The system also supports seamless integration with Catena+, XSYS’ end-to-end solution for fully automated, touch-free flexo plate production.
The Thermoflex Edge 80 is the first model in the new Thermoflex Edge series. Additional size variants will be introduced starting in 2027. “The Thermoflex Edge 80 represents a fundamental step forward in what flexo prepress can deliver,” said Steven Vandevoorde, general manager Prepress at XSYS. “For our customers, that means more plates per shift, faster turnaround, and print quality that gives them a genuine competitive edge. The Thermoflex Edge 80 is now available immediately, and the Xsys demo centers in Ypres (Belgium) and Willstätt (Germany) are ready to host customers, with Atlanta to follow later this summer.
