Multitec is seeing strong demand for its flexographic printing solutions for flexible packaging, driven by the growing number of SKUs, startups and shorter production runs in the market, Amit Ahuja of Multitec said in an interview at the 13th Specialty Films & Flexible Packaging Global Summit & Exhibition in Mumbai.

Ahuja said the company was showcasing its midweb flexo solutions at the event, including the midweb flexo S3S, which is designed to address the requirements of flexible packaging converters looking to adopt digital printing or manage short production runs more efficiently.

The company has already established a presence in the market, with around 25 installations of the S3S platform, according to Ahuja. Another seven to eight installations are currently in the pipeline, indicating continued interest in the technology.

The solutions are aimed at flexible packaging manufacturers seeking alternatives for short-run production or considering a transition towards digital printing. Ahuja said demand for such equipment is currently “booming,” reflecting changes in packaging production requirements.

The increase in the number of SKUs and the emergence of new businesses are among the factors driving demand for more flexible and efficient printing technologies. Shorter runs require converters to balance production efficiency with the need to handle greater product and design variation.

Multitec’s focus on short-run flexographic printing comes as flexible packaging converters increasingly seek technologies that can improve production flexibility while meeting changing customer requirements.
