Thane-based Echaar Equipments Pvt. Ltd. recently forayed into the converting equipments business. The company had announced the launch of its first Made in India CI flexo press by mid of this year, the open house for which is to take place sometime in August or September. The press will be a top-end model from its portfolio of CI flexo presses. Echaar will be offering its CI flexo presses in three segments: top (Flexomaster model), middle (Flexointelligent model) and entry (Flexodelight model) level.

At Plastindia, the company got an opportunity to interact with the printers where it received some valuable feedback. This encouraged Echaar to participate in Pack Plus with a motive to interact with customers in the northern region of India. However, the response it received at PackPlus did not match up to the company’s expectations. The turnout at Echaar stand, as its spokesperson Kirti Panchal, the managing director of Echaar put, was very low.

“Few customers showed genuine interest in our product. We went to the event with high expectations but that’s okay. We will eventually get the numbers after we make our machine public,” Panchal said. “We’re in the initial stages of our converting business. We’re also quite confident that the CI flexo will give a huge boost to the Indian industry; it will turn out to become a product that the converters must have at their production facility.”

The CI flexo, soon to be launched by the company, will also help in reducing pollution, improving productivity and achieving better returns on investment. Overall, it will be the first-of-its-kind machine to be launched in India. Panchal feels that people are slowly understanding the technology and the need to have it. Additionally, he admitted to having met many people in the recent past who have shown enthusiasm in investing in newer technology which, according to him, is a positive sign.

“The main feature of CI flexo is the central impression drum, which eases printing on stretchable films. The presence of doctor chamber blade restricts the evaporation of solvents. Our machines have an ink management system, which helps recover solvents,” Panchal shared.

Echaar is partnering with a group of Italian companies which have immense exposure in the overseas market. Furthermore, with vast experience and knowledge in the packaging space, Echaar hopes to market its flexo presses overseas soon.
