Naph adds shaftless unwinder to Slitline 35

Naph Graphics at PackPlus 2018

Noida-based manufacturer of web offset printing presses, Naph Graphics Pvt. Ltd. had a good show at the recently concluded PackPlus event in Pragati Maidan. It displayed the latest variant of Naph’s slitter rewinder. The slitter rewinder comes with a shaftless unwinder, a feature that has already been introduced by many other companies in this space. The shaftless unwinder allows operators to lift the reel directly from the ground.

“Other companies are already doing it, but for us, this is something new that we’ve added to the machines being offered by us. We’re also planning to come up with some new machines. Right now it is too early to divulge any details as everything is still under development phase and we’re doing a lot of R&D on those machines. We plan to launch the machines to our customers during the LabelExpo that will take place this November. If not at LabelExpo, we will definitely be ready with our machines at PrintPack 2019,” says Mohit Bansal, assistant director – Marketing at Naph Graphics.

High demand but inadequate supply

Bansal was quite glad with the footfall and was happy to receive orders and queries from machine buyers at the event. He also feels there is a lot of demand in the market; a lot of people are investing in new machines. “Even as I notice a lot of demand, there are certain players in the market who are struggling as the loans that were being granted earlier have been stopped. This has had a huge impact on not only the sales of our company but also many others. By this time last year and the one before that, the number of machines sold was higher. Though the demand is high, the number of machines sold this time is quite less. It might take some time for the market to recover,” Bansal added.

Talking about its export market, Bansal said, “We’re already exporting web offset. But we still need to improve our brand name in the market to improve our exports in the coming days. We are incorporating certain steps in that direction. Also, observing the potential of the packaging market in India, we decided to diversify to packaging where we’re keen on making an impact with our machines.

“The market for slitter rewinders in India is huge as we see it. Usually, according to us, if someone buys a rotogravure and a laminator, he requires at least two slitters. A single slitter can never work along with a rotogravure and a lamination machine. So, it’s simple; the number of rotogravure machines being sold in India multiplied by two gives you the scope for slitter rewinders.”
