Like many other small but fast growing packaging film manufacturers from India, Surat-based Alpha Plastomers too has been aggressively working towards expanding its market share in developed regions of the world, such as USA and Europe. A leading manufacturer of flexible packaging solutions like POF shrink films and speciality products such as collation shrink films and mulch films, Alpha has participated in interpack for the second time. The company has two manufacturing plants located at Daman and Roorkee, and has a combined production capacity for shrink films of about 300 tons per month, which is expected to increase to 600 tons per month by next year.

“Last time we were at the India pavilion and although we had a small stand, we had a great time. This time we are exhibiting independently and have a much bigger space. Visitors at our stand have come from across the world. The response has been what we had expected,” said Saurabh Agarwal, director, Alpha Plastomers. Currently, the company is exporting to about three to four countries in Europe while its main markets are in Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa. Apart from the European market, Alpha Plastomers is also looking seriously at the US market and participated at North America’s biggest packaging event, Pack Expo International, which was held in Chicago last year. The company got a thrilling response at Chicago as well and, according to Agarwal, by end of 2017 things should begin to move fast in the US market. It is in the process of establishing a distribution channel in the US.

Alpha Plastomers has recently started manufacturing mulch films, which are used in the agricultural sector. The black & white mulch films guard cultivation from insects and weeds, and improve crop growth by preventing water and necessary nutrients from evaporating. The company has a mulch film production capacity of about 100 tons per month.

“We are already supplying mulch films to a few global companies in India so we thought why not promote these speciality films in the European and the global markets as well. We have got good feedback about this product from visitors at interpack,” Agarwal informed.
