Heidelberg India’s president Samir Patkar has sent a letter to media partners and we presume one to Gallus customers in the country as well. The letter essentially says that in the pursuance of its systematic realignment to its core business, Heidelberg has sold the Gallus Group to Swiss company benpac.
As mentioned in the original release published by us on early morning 23 July 2020, the two parties have agreed that Heidelberg will continue to manage sales and service of Gallus products. “benpac and Heidelberg have agreed that Heidelberg will continue to manage the sales and service of the Gallus portfolio in close cooperation after the takeover. Therefore, Gallus customers will continue to benefit from the proven quality and reliability of the world’s largest service network in the print media industry.”
Patkar’s letter basically confirms that nothing much will change for Gallus Group customers in India and that spare parts and service will continue to come the Heidelberg India organization. Similarly his letter says that operations at the Avery Dennision Innovation and Knowledge Centre that contains a highly configured Gallus Labelmaster 440 for training and demonstrations purposes will continue as before.
In a comment to our web posting on 23 July, our European Correspondent Ron Augustin added, “benpac holding ag, based in Switzerland, is active in filling, capping, injection molding, labeling, and labeling paper-based packaging machinery systems. Last year, the group took over one of Müller-Martini’s operations in Stans and since uses this centrally located site as a base for some of its activities in Switzerland. At the same time, the group, with some 3150 employees in Europe and the Americas, took over Packsys Global Thailand, renamed benpac packaging, specialized in high-speed aerosol tube production and filling lines.
