The Kodak Flexcel NX was first unveiled at drupa 2008 and made commercially available in 2010. Since then, the technology has come a long way, according to Vidhu Gautam, business and product manager – regional marketing lead, packaging solution business, Asia Pacific region. “We have raised the bar of flexo printing in India to be at par with gravure or offset with the help of this technology. At drupa 2016, Kodak celebrated its 500th unit sale. This shows the success of this technology.” At drupa 2016, Kodak launched its Flexcel NX System 16, which comes with added features and options.
Partnership with Sergusa Solutions
At Labelexpo 2016, Kodak announced a significant partnership with Sergusa Solutions who will be carrying Kodak’s packaging portfolio to offer a turnkey solution to greenfield packaging convertors as well as to existing flexible packaging convertors that are using conventional print technologies. Both Sergusa and Kodak consider the partnership as a significant step towards the growth of the flexible packaging industry with the option of flexography. Ashis Bhattacharya, chief executive officer of Sergusa Solutions said, “This is a kind of hand-in-glove partnership for us as Kodak Flexcel NX solution and Prinergy Powerpack Workflow offers an unique opportunity to integrate the brand protection solutions. We are a company which is no stranger to this industry and have been associated long enough to understand the challenges. Of course, Kodak is a pioneer in the
flexography business and it will be a rewarding experience to work together.” This partnership extends to the India cluster—India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Kodak Flexcel NX Certification awarded to Kwality Offset, Delhi
The other major announcement that Kodak has made was awarding its NX Certification to Kwality Offset from Delhi. Kwality Offset diversified into flexography and partnered with Kodak in 2014 from their legacy of offset printing. Since then, Kwality has come a long way to be one of the leading flexo players in the market.
Kodak’s Flexcel NX Certification is given to any Flexcel NX customer who can produce Kodak Flexcel NX plates consistently, meeting certain criteria for plate-making. The performance and quality are measured and designed to meet high levels of performance, and only then is a customer awarded certification. It means the customer has met high standards for producing quality output. Kodak presented the certification plaque and certificate to Rajeev Chhatwal, proprietor of Kwality Offset.
