The award for oneBarrier FibreCycle was presented to Sara Alexander and Carolin Struller from Bobst and Thierry Van Migem from Michelman

Bobst in partnership with UPM and Michelman were joint winners of the recyclable packaging category along with Citeo and Partners. The award for oneBARRIER FibreCycle was presented to Sara Alexander and Carolin Struller from Bobst and Thierry Van Migem from Michelman at the ceremony held in Amsterdam on the evening of 14 November.

oneBARRIER FibreCycle is a paper-based, high-barrier alternative to traditional plastic-based flexible packaging and has been declared officially recyclable by PTS, 4evergreen, Aticelca, and Western Michigan University. Developed as a joint end-to-end project by Bobst, UPM, and Michelman, FibreCycle is a high-barrier, recycle-ready fiber-based structure and is the successful outcome of four years of in-depth R&D studies and an extensive test program, carried out on production scale equipment.

Commenting on the win, Sara Alexander, Marketing & Communications manager for Flexible Packaging at Bobst said, “We are very proud to win this important award which proves our oneBARRIER FibreCycle solution is truly a game-changer for the industry. We couldn’t have done it without the great collaboration with UPM and Michelman. We really believe in the power of partnerships and the fact that both winners in our category are projects borne of working together with other companies in the industry really demonstrates how important partnerships and co-creation are. By harnessing the expertise of our key project stakeholders, we are able to develop innovative, viable solutions for the flexible packaging industry.”
