India is an important market for DuPont Tyvek due to its growing economy and the increasing demand for Tyvek solutions in areas such as graphics and active packaging, according to Victoria Mascaray Marti, global marketing manager, Tyvek Consumer and Industrial.

India is a very important market for us. It’s a growing country with a lot of needs, and I would say one of the segments that is important is graphics, but the active packaging market is also important. I would say that graphics and active packaging are extremely relevant when it comes to India. But we will try to enter new areas as well,” Marti said in an interview with Packaging South Asia during drupa 2024.

Marti said the DuPont Tyvek division is ramping up its presence in India to better serve the market and capitalize on the growth opportunities it offers. “Earlier, we were in a situation where we were constrained with our supply due to various factors. Now this is changing. Now we can go and explore and see how much we can support India. We will be more aggressive with our partners and with the distributors in India to see how we can explore different applications in the Indian market. So, there is more to come; we have a great team at DuPont India,” she said.

Tyvek is a 100% synthetic material made from high-density spunbound polyethylene fibers. Lightweight, durable, and breathable, yet resistant to water, abrasion, bacterial penetration, and aging, Tyvek is used to improve a variety of applications across multiple industries. Products made of 100% Tyvek material can be recycled at facilities that recycle flexible HDPE materials.

Tyvek has applications in healthcare packaging, the graphics industry (tags and labels, wide format media), active and industrial packaging, and cargo covers, to name a few.

ISCC PLUS certification for Luxembourg and Richmond facilities

DuPont Tyvek manufacturing facilities are located in Richmond in the USA and in Luxembourg in Europe. Recently, the Tyvek production facility at the Spruance manufacturing plant in Richmond achieved certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC PLUS).

The Spruance site is the second DuPont location to obtain ISCC certification, following the Luxembourg manufacturing plant in November 2023.

ISCC PLUS certification verifies a product’s sustainability across the whole supply chain, from raw material sourcing to manufacture and distribution, employing the mass balance approach in a robust, transparent, and credible manner.
