Kolkata-based monocartons specialist Calprin Ads has installed a brand new Bobst Expertfold 80A2 folder gluer at its plant. Calprin mostly supplies cartons to companies in the fast-moving consumer goods industry.

The Bobst Expertfold 80A2 was a very obvious choice for us as we wanted to increase the productivity of our carton converting section. We have gone in for a lot of additional features after a thorough discussion with the Bobst India team. We are confident that this will give us a big edge vis-à-vis our competitors,” Pratik Dubey of Calprin Ads told Packaging South Asia during the Pamex show in Mumbai.

The Experfold 80A2 that has been installed at Calprin Ads has a speed of 450 meters per minute and has been configured to process 4 and 6 corner and specialty boxes.

Dubey said working with Bobst India was easy and the cooperation extended before and after sales was excellent. “The experience of working with Bobst was top-notch. The discussions were great. We sat down and talked and the deal was done in a day,” Pratik Dubey said.

Sibesh Dubey, managing director of Calprin Ads and father of Pratik Dubey, said his company has always believed in going for the best technology and therefore Bobst was the first choice.

As far as Calprin is concerned, we believe in going for the best. We have always invested in top-of-the-line machines and did not want to compromise when it came to the folder gluer,” said Sibesh Dubey.

Bullish about Indian carton packaging industry

Pratik Dubey said that the expanding economy and a growing middle class in India will provide a big boost to the carton packaging segment and the overall packaging industry.

Today packaging is a vital differentiator for brands. Consumers pay a lot of attention to the way products are packaged. This will become even more vital as Indian consumers become more discerning. I believe this will be a big booster for the packaging service providers. We are very optimistic about the growth potential and that is why we have invested in top-quality machines,” he concluded.
