Flint Group Packaging Inks, a packaging ink and coatings supplier, has announced its investment in a newly optimized Regional Service Centre (RSC) in Barcelona, Spain, galvanizing its commitment to customers in the region.

According to Flint Group, the site opening strengthens Flint Group Packaging Inks’ (flexible packaging and paper and board) position in the Spanish market. Importantly, it claims to bring the company closer to its customer base by enabling more localized technical and commercial services and leveraging the benefits of the Group’s global manufacturing and warehousing capabilities.

The 1600 square meter state-of-the-art RSC will be the regional base for the company’s Iberian operations. Based in Les Franqueses del Vallès, a Barcelona municipality, the center will offer customers a swift turnaround for blending services and local manufacturing alongside robust warehousing, logistical services, and direct contact with experienced Flint Group commercial and technical teams.

Eric Dussaut, commercial director Western Europe for Flint Group Packaging Inks, commented, “We are continually investing in our business to help our customers around the globe reach new heights; therefore, we are delighted to offer an enhanced service level to our new and existing customers in Spain. The investment reaffirms and strengthens our commitment to being the partner of choice to our Spanish packaging customers. Our customers in the region have been able to receive products from our European Mother Plants, but the opening of the RSC in Spain further solidifies our world-class product and service commitments to the area, helping us nurture even stronger relationships with our Packaging Inks’ customers.”

“Along with this strategic investment we are also pleased to announce increased warehouse capacity for our solvent-based range of products. Clearly, we are proud to be investing in the local economy and generating jobs for people in the local area. Spain is an important market for Flint Group, and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead to grow the business and deliver the excellence in products and services that our customers have come to expect.”

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.

As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.
