New RSC in Barcelona to strengthen position in the Spanish market

Flint Group Packaging Inks, a packaging ink and coatings supplier, has announced its investment in a newly optimized Regional Service Centre (RSC) in Barcelona, Spain, galvanizing its commitment to customers in the region.

According to Flint Group, the site opening strengthens Flint Group Packaging Inks’ (flexible packaging and paper and board) position in the Spanish market. Importantly, it claims to bring the company closer to its customer base by enabling more localized technical and commercial services and leveraging the benefits of the Group’s global manufacturing and warehousing capabilities.

The 1600 square meter state-of-the-art RSC will be the regional base for the company’s Iberian operations. Based in Les Franqueses del Vallès, a Barcelona municipality, the center will offer customers a swift turnaround for blending services and local manufacturing alongside robust warehousing, logistical services, and direct contact with experienced Flint Group commercial and technical teams.

Flint Group develops, manufactures and markets an extensive portfolio of printing consumables and printing equipment, including a vast range of conventional and energy curable inks and coatings for most offset, flexographic, and gravure applications; pressroom chemicals, printing blankets, and sleeves for offset printing; photopolymer printing plates and sleeves, plate-making equipment and flexographic sleeve systems; pigments and additives for use in inks and other colorant applications.

Flint Group also designs, develops, and delivers web-fed digital color presses for labels and packaging applications, document printing, commercial printing, platemaking equipment for the newspaper industry, and computer-to-plate (CtP) solutions for the commercial printing market. Headquartered in Luxembourg, Flint Group employs some 6800 people.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.
