Ahmedabad-based Knack Packaging, one of India’s leading manufacturers and exporters of HDPE/PP woven bags and printed BOPP-laminated PP woven bags, is expanding its capacity in the manufacturing of premium BOPP pinch-bottom woven bags.

At Interpack 2023, the company showcased its recyclable woven bags for global customers and highlighted its woven block bottom bags with a matte finish as a potential replacement for paper bags, considering the global paper shortage.

“There is shortage of paper in the global market and we are trying to offer woven block bottom bags to replace paper bags. With a matt finish, the woven bags give the look of paper. We have made 100% recyclable woven bags which we displayed at the show,” said Alpesh Patel, director, Knack Packaging.

The company recently launched the Knack Flexipack brand, catering to the demand for small flexible packaging solutions.

“Most of our customers are into bulk packaging. However, some of these customers require small flexible packaging solutions as well. To cater to that demand, we launched Knack Flexipack. We make pouches, laminates, rolls, etc. We set up a new infrastructure for Knack Flexipack,” Patel said.

Plastic is not the problem

Plastic packaging waste is a big talking point in India as well as the world. The popular impression is that plastic is responsible for the mess that we see on the streets and in the water bodies. Patel, however, says the problem lies with plastic waste management and not with plastic itself.

“We have to make sure we do not demonize plastic. Plastic is a miracle product, which has made our lives much easier. But we need to properly manage plastic waste. All stakeholders in the plastic packaging industry and the authorities need to come together and spread awareness about the proper disposal and management of plastic waste,” he said.
