Mondi has recently received two ScanStar awards and two Obal Roku awards, recognizing its expertise in automotive, eCommerce, and FMCG packaging solutions. Mondi Ansbach, Germany, developed the double ScanStar award-winning transportation packaging solutions for Volvo. The team works closely with its automotive industry customers to create value-added corrugated solutions that protect heavy-duty goods such as brake boosters and headlamps while improving processes and logistics, it said. The ScanStar jury especially highlighted these factors — cost-effectiveness, sustainability, stability, and improvement in work ergonomics.

“Our stakeholders at the plant are very pleased with this packaging concept when it comes to usability and quality,” explained Paulo Soeiro, packaging engineer at Volvo Cars, about Mondi’s brake booster solution.

At this year’s Obul Roka awards, Mondi Bupak, Czech Republic, won in the Technology and Process category with its special edition sparkling wine box for Bohemia Sekt, which stood out due to the imaginative design and high printability capabilities of the Bupak plant. Mondi’s EnvelopeMailer won the eCommerce category, giving customers a fully recyclable alternative to polyethylene bags and polyethylene-coated products when shipping eCommerce goods.

Armand Schoonbrood, chief operating officer – Corrugated Solutions at Mondi, said, “We believe in packaging that is sustainable by design. Our designers have an innovation mind-set that sets standards in the packaging market. I am proud of the recognition of our innovative products and commitment to service and quality is receiving.”

All four awards qualify for the international WorldStar awards run by the World Packaging Organization (WPO). The closing date for entries is in October, and the results will be announced by 15 December.

Mondi Corrugated Solutions, a segment of the business unit Mondi Corrugated Packaging, is a leading supplier of corrugated packaging in Europe, with a strong focus on Central and South-East Europe. The packaging types range from standard transit cases and heavy-duty containers to upscale consumer displays. They are applied as a shelf- or retail-ready solutions, transport cases, or large containers when shipping FMCG’s, perishables, industrial and dangerous goods, and other products.

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
