At drinktec 2025 in Munich in September, Jerry Bachner, president of Nimco Corporation, a US-based manufacturer of gable top packaging machinery systems, discussed the company’s evolving journey in the Indian market and its long-standing partnership with Parksons Packaging.
Nimco, a global leader in gable top filling and packaging systems since 1958, participated at drinktec for the first time, having previously exhibited at major shows such as Interpack and Anuga. Bachner said the company has also explored emerging markets across Asia, including Vietnam and Thailand, to identify potential growth for gable top packaging, which remains dominated by aseptic systems from Tetra Pak in several regions.
Reflecting on Nimco’s 13-year association with Parksons Packaging, Bachner described India as a steadily growing market for liquid packaging, particularly in niche segments such as whipping cream, which initially drove Parksons’ success with brands such as Rich Products and Tropolite, among others. He said the partnership has matured, with Parksons now positioned as Nimco’s exclusive representative in India and expanding its footprint across Southeast Asia.
Currently, over 40 Nimco machines are operating in India. Parksons Packaging manages sales, service, and spare parts support for all models of Nimco machinery. The company’s advanced Pune facility, equipped with in-house lamination and extrusion lines, represents one of the most significant investments in India’s liquid carton segment and positions Parksons as a major regional player capable of competing with global names.
Bachner acknowledged that while local Indian manufacturers have entered the market, their systems are still in early stages of development and often struggle to match the performance, reliability, and durability of established global technologies. He said as Indian beverage and dairy companies scale up operations, demand for higher-quality and more robust packaging machinery will rise, benefiting proven systems such as that of Nimco.
Nimco and Parksons’ partnership extends beyond India, with installations in Southeast Asia and multiple clients in the US. Parksons supplies cartons for water, dairy, and personal care applications, including reflow packs for soaps and detergents, which have gained traction in North America. The company also serves several co-packers and major brands across Canada and the United States.
Highlighting the long life and reliability of Nimco’s equipment, with machines from the 1970s still operational in Africa and South America, Bachner said the company remains focused on combining its engineering legacy with regional partnerships to support the next phase of growth in sustainable, high-quality liquid packaging across India and Asia.
