At the 12th Speciality Films & Flexible Packaging Global Summit in Mumbai, Dharmendra Mishra, director of Ahmedabad-based KG Flexx, spoke to Packaging South Asia and outlined the company’s aggressive growth trajectory, with a second Bruckner BOPP line already on order.
BOPP film manufacturer KG Flexx and Bruckner Maschinenbau have concluded another contract, marking a major milestone in the company’s expansion. The new high-performance 3-layer line will produce films with a width of 10.4 meters at a speed of up to 700 meters per minute, significantly enhancing capacity and efficiency. It will complement the existing 8.7-meter, five-layer Bruckner line commissioned in December 2024. The mix of speciality and high-output mass-market lines is designed to help the company balance innovation with scale.
The expansion comes on the back of strong customer response and rapid capacity utilization at its Limbasi plant in Gujarat, which sits on 200,000 square meters of land earmarked for up to four lines.
KG Flexx was promoted jointly by the Kataria Group, a leading automobile distribution house, and the diversified YPG Group. The company entered the flexible packaging business just three years ago, post-Covid, with a strategic focus on speciality films rather than commodity products.
The journey began with metallizing operations in October 2023 using a Bobst K5 Expert metallizer and Kampf prime slitters. By outsourcing base films and building its marketing team early, the company established a brand presence before its BOPP line was ready. “This strategy gave us a lift in the beginning,” Mishra said. “By the time our line was commissioned, we already had a strong customer base and didn’t face the usual market entry hurdles.”

Since starting production, KG Flexx has developed more than 25 grades of film, including pearl label films with different densities, pearlized and metallized pearlized films, high OD barrier films, white opaque films, and matt-surface films for premium aesthetics. The company is also preparing to launch EVOH-based ultra-barrier films in the coming months, aligning with sustainability goals and rising demand for recyclable structures.
Mishra emphasized that sustainability has been built into the company’s operations from the start. KG Flexx has installed advanced in-house recycling systems to reprocess both production and real waste into granules, ensuring compliance with India’s extended producer responsibility (EPR) norms. “We are ready to meet environmental regulations and evolving customer expectations,” he said.
The company is focused on western India, particularly Gujarat and Maharashtra, but has placed representatives in the north and south to build its presence nationwide. Exports are a strategic priority, with preparations underway to secure certifications and audits required for overseas markets. Mishra said the company expects exports to begin in earnest in the second half of FY26.
Looking ahead, Mishra remains bullish on the flexible packaging industry. “Packaging has no substitute. Growth may fluctuate with cycles of supply and demand, but the long-term outlook is strong,” he noted. With a clear expansion roadmap, a strong focus on speciality films, and a sustainability-first approach, KG Flexx appears set to emerge as a significant new player in India’s flexible packaging landscape.
