At the IndiCorr Expo 2024 in Mumbai, Valco Melton showcased an innovative range of inspection technologies under its ClearVision brand, a vision technology company. The highlight of the presentation was ClearVision’s latest breakthrough, PrintCheck, a cutting-edge inspection system designed to evaluate the printing quality on corrugated boxes.

Ravi Kiran from Valco Melton India explained the benefits of PrintCheck. “We’re demonstrating PrintCheck here at the show, which inspects the printing on a box and identifies any issues by comparing it with a master box,” Kiran said. “It detects defects, and if the quality isn’t up to standard, it can even eject the faulty box from the production line.”

PrintCheck is part of ClearVision’s comprehensive suite of inspection tools tailored for the corrugated packaging industry. Alongside PrintCheck, Kiran highlighted other key technologies, including GlueCheck (which verifies the presence of glue on corrugated boxes), FoldCheck (which ensures proper folding), and GapCheck (which measures the gaps between box flaps). These tools work together to provide quality at every stage of the production process, preventing defective boxes from reaching customers.

“We aim to prevent any faulty boxes from reaching the customer,” Kiran said. “We inspect boxes at various stages of production, and if any issues arise, we can eject the entire bundle to maintain quality control.”

Asked if these technologies could be applied to other forms of packaging, Kiran clarified that the current focus is solely on corrugated boxes, with a separate product line for monocarton packaging.

Kiran discussed Valco Melton’s global manufacturing strategy. While India produces hot melt systems, the vision inspection systems, including PrintCheck, are developed in Canada. Cold glue and corrugated gluing machines are manufactured in the US, with additional European production facilities.

“India plays a vital role as a manufacturing hub for our hot melt systems, particularly for packaging applications at the end of the line,” Kiran noted, underscoring India’s importance in Valco Melton’s global production network.

Kiran said ClearVision’s innovative technologies are poised to revolutionize quality control in the corrugated packaging industry, ensuring that only flawless products reach customers.
