Baldwin Vision Systems showed some of the latest developments and new features for its growing portfolio of defect detection and color management technology at Labelexpo India 2018. With the merger of PC Industries, QuadTech, and Web Printing Controls the company has a range of products across several markets segments. Many of the features have come from new technology combinations at the three companies. Hemant Desai, director for Baldwin Vision Systems India said, “There are some truly exciting new technical achievements, by combining engineering talent and resources—we can take our proven technology to a whole new level.”

Shown at the stand was the Guardian RTM, a new real-time quality monitoring and reporting tool for the Guardian PQV advanced 100% print and defect inspection. Guardian RTM uses a central server to monitor, collect and display real-time inspection data for multiple presses and jobs—and even across multiple plants— on a simple, uncluttered dashboard user interface. Baldwin’s Color Track adapted and engineered for narrow web label presses was also shown at Labelexpo India.

Gerry Stanford at Baldwin’s Labelexpo India stand explained, “This data-connecting technology allows printers to track and compare many different production metrics, as many as 15 data points.” Press managers can monitor changes as they happen, and make highly informed decisions about print quality, defect management, and even operator-to-operator performance. The system can quickly identify any mechanical issues, process inefficiencies, or even help to tailor the operator training to eliminate defects.

The Guardian RTM was launched at the Labelexpo in Chicago in September this year. Stanford said, “A beta customer has five label presses running with these systems and he can instantly see which press is not performing. Some printers get it immediately.”
