At Labelexpo 2024, BST showcased solutions tailored for narrow and mid-web flexo printing, including web guides, print inspection, 100% defect detection, and post-printing processes.
Sharing insights into the company’s approach, products, and industry outlook in an interview, Kushal Patel from BST India said their core theme remains improving customers’ print and converting quality, reflecting their role as a quality assurance equipment manufacturer.
“Our demo unit highlights our complete product range, starting with basic web guides for quality improvement, followed by a video inspection camera for operator reference. We offer 100% inspection systems, which can be installed online or on rewinders, synchronized with pre-press. These systems enable color monitoring, distance measurement, variable data inspection, and barcode inspection. Additionally, defects detected through online inspection can be managed via workflow integration, ensuring defect-free finished rolls,” Patel explained. He said this comprehensive solution is aimed at the narrow and mid-web segment.
Industry outlook
Patel expressed optimism about the industry’s growth, projecting consistent opportunities through 2025. However, he highlighted that as a quality assurance company, BST typically comes into play after plant and machinery decisions are finalized, depending on customer budgets. “Growth is there, but persistence is key. We must continuously reach out to customers to stay ahead of competitors,” he added.
Views on Labelexpo
Discussing Labelexpo’s relevance, Patel praised the event for its focus on label printing, attracting a targeted audience. However, he acknowledged rising costs as a concern. “Labelexpo has become increasingly expensive with each edition. As exhibitors, we now have several alternatives, prompting us to evaluate whether to continue with Labelexpo India or explore smaller, more frequent exhibitions,” he remarked.
Patel pointed out BST’s global presence as an advantage, with the company participating in Labelexpo editions in Bangkok, Barcelona, and Chicago. However, he questioned the necessity of maintaining a presence at Labelexpo India, citing cost concerns and the availability of other avenues.
“This decision wasn’t even on my radar two years ago, but it’s something we are seriously considering now,” Patel concluded.
