Mahalaxmi Flexible Packaging, a leading manufacturer and exporter of eco-friendly food packaging solutions, showcased a range of sustainable, convenient, and premium food packaging products at the Indusfood Manufacturing show in Delhi. The company presented a wide range including PET jars and containers, cake and pastry boxes, pizza and burger packaging, sandwich, and salad boxes, and general food packaging items such as disposable food containers, kraft paper food boxes, and plastic food trays.

Anup Bajaj, CEO of Mahalaxmi Flexible Packaging, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in food packaging. “With 100% sustainable and recyclable packaging, we primarily serve the food packaging needs of quick-service restaurants (QSRs), bakeries, and cloud kitchens,” he stated.

Based in Ghaziabad, the company originally operated as a trading business but transitioned to manufacturing after the Covid-19 pandemic. Bajaj explained that the increasing awareness about sustainable packaging after the pandemic created growth opportunities. “The demand for eco-friendly packaging surged after Covid-19, and we saw an opportunity to take the next step and start manufacturing sustainable packaging solutions,” he said.

According to Bajaj, the company emphasizes advanced packaging technology enabling durability, aesthetics, and food freshness. He said its solutions are designed to not only preserve food quality but also enhance brand recognition. “Our tailor-made packaging solutions help food businesses improve product appeal and customer experience.”

Bajaj shared insights into the evolving food packaging industry, noting that while sustainability is gaining momentum, plastic still dominates the market. “Currently, 80% of food packaging still relies on plastic,” he pointed out. He nevertheless acknowledged the growing influence of environmentally conscious young entrepreneurs entering the food sector.

“Young entrepreneurs are more aware of environmental concerns and want to avoid plastic packaging in favor of sustainable alternatives,” he explained. However, he made an important distinction between recyclable and recycled packaging. “Recycled packaging, though widely accepted in the consumer product industry, is not suitable for food products. It is better suited for non-food packaging applications,” he clarified.

As demand for sustainable packaging continues to rise, the company is expanding its production capacity and diversifying its product portfolio. The company is steadily adding new stock-keeping units (SKUs) as per the demand in the industry.
