At Labelexpo 2024 in Greater Noida, Nippon Color – a supplier of pre-press systems, CTP plates, digital printing, and finishing solutions – conducted a live demonstration of the VD330, an advanced digital label finisher that eliminates the need for dies in label cutting.
“Simply upload the outline file, and the machine begins cutting using its multiple blades,” Akshat Pardiwala, COO, Nippon Color, explained.
According to Pardiwala, a digital label finisher is essential for maximizing the benefits of digital label printing, and it helps label converters save significant time and cost by removing the dependency on traditional dies.

“The VD330 can laminate labels and slit them into smaller rolls, providing a comprehensive finishing solution. You can print labels in one hour, cut them in two hours, and deliver finished rolls to your customers on the same day—potentially even charging extra for this premium, value-added service,” he said.
Equipped with four cutting heads, the finisher achieves speeds of up to 9 m/min and can handle up to 320 mm wide and 2000 mm long labels. The integrated CCD camera enhances efficiency by reading job numbers or QR codes to automatically switch jobs and cutting shapes without requiring operator intervention.
“By eliminating the need for dies, our digital label finishers help converters significantly reduce waste associated with die production. The first label cut on our machines is ready for sale, unlike traditional die-cutting, which involves substantial wastage during setup. Our goal is to minimize waste generation while enhancing the cost efficiency,” he said.
Having a strong presence in the offset industry, the team is eager to expand into the flexo and labels market. The live demonstration allowed the team to connect with new customers. With a diverse product portfolio, Nippon Color aims to be a trusted supplier capable of offering tailored solutions for every customer.
“The new connections and prospects we made the event remarkable. We returned with a wealth of exciting opportunities and look forward to building strong relationships with our new friends and partners,” Pardiwala said. Nippon closed four deals with more in the pipeline.
In the coming year, Nippon will announce the launch of a new digital label finisher model featuring eight cutting heads and speeds of up to 18 m/min, offering enhanced efficiency and performance.
