Mumbai-based Hi-Tech Systems demonstrated digital short-run label and stand-up pouch printing solutions at the recently concluded Pack Mach Asia expo that was held in Mumbai from 7-9 December at the Bombay Exhibition Centre.

The company demonstrated OKI Pro1050 roll to roll table top label printers for brands in industries such as coffee, juices, soft drinks, among others. Hi-Tech also showcased the OKI Pro9542 stand up pouch printers.

Using digital LED together with dry toner technology, the OKI Pro1050 offers a fifth color or ‘CMYK+1’ option. The OKI Pro9542 delivers CMYK plus high density white-under single pass printing. It has A4 print speed of 50 ppm color and 50 ppm mono.

“These two solutions are aimed at the food and beverages industry, especially the smaller players who fall in the MSME category. There are a lot of small but dynamic brands now in the Indian food and beverages space who require quality packaging and labeling solutions. However, these brands do not require large quantities of labels or pouches. For them, these two digital presses make a lot of sense. We met a retail store owner from Mumbai who has almost 4,000 SKUs in his store. He said that these printers would make a lot of sense for him as he plans to put his own brands in the store,” said Parag Shah of Hi-Tech.

Shah said that Hi-Tech is also planning to set up service bureaus that will offer “buy your print service”.

“These bureaus will be for brand owners who cannot afford to buy their own printers. We will help them in getting quality printer services for their label and packaging needs,” Shah added.

Talking about the response for the two printers at Pack Mach Asia, Shah said that he met a lot of brands from the small scale sector which was Hi-Tech primary aim of exhibiting at the expo.

“This is one of the best expos we have attended this year. We got excellent footfall and hope to close an impressive number of deals in the future,” Shah concluded.
