UK-based anilox specialist Sandon Global, in collaboration with its India partner CGSASP, showcased its latest engraving innovation, Fluid FP, at the recently concluded India CorrExpo 2025.

Speaking at the event in Greater Noida in September, Tinku Sharma, sales manager for India, the Middle East, and Africa at Sandon Global, said, “We are one of the best anilox manufacturers globally. In India, we are working with CGSASP for corrugation and narrow web markets.”

Fluid FP represents an engraving format developed by Sandon Global to improve ink transfer, particularly for water-based inks. Unlike conventional hexagonal engravings, Fluid FP uses an extended chain-like cell structure, which facilitates smoother ink release and higher ink density while reducing the risk of pinholing.

This ensures printers can achieve consistent ink laydown, better coverage, and reduced waste — essential benefits for the corrugated packaging sector that is increasingly embracing sustainable substrates and inks.

The technology is especially suited to the demands of green packaging. With water-based inks gaining traction as an alternative to solvent-based systems, Fluid FP enables converters to deliver high-quality print while complying with environmental standards. “Fluid FP enables water-based ink to transfer effectively. The future is of green packaging, and this innovation supports that transition,” Sharma emphasized.

Expressing confidence in the rapid growth of the Indian corrugation industry, Sharma noted that rising consumer preference for eco-friendly solutions is fueling demand. “The corrugation industry is growing at an exponential rate in India. The fundamental reason behind this growth is that customers are accepting green packaging,” he explained.

According to Sharma, the exhibition provided Sandon Global and CGSASP with a valuable platform to engage with Indian converters and raise awareness about their innovations. Sharma highlighted its role in building market acceptance. He mentioned the potential boost from the evolving India-UK free trade agreement, which may create new opportunities for Sandon Global.

Asia plans

Looking ahead, Sandon Global plans to increase its footprint in Asia. “We are trying to put some technical services here, including instruments that help people understand the condition of their aniloxes. In the future, we might establish a plant in Asia, and India is certainly part of that consideration,” Sharma said.
