Wipotec GmbH, in collaboration with its local partner Safe Automations Group, marked its debut at ProPak India 2025 in Delhi-NCR, showcasing two of its machines – a combi system integrating checkweigher and metal detector technologies, and an X-ray scanner for comprehensive contamination detection.

Highlighting the company’s journey, Pranshu Sharma, area sales manager for the Indian subcontinent at Wipotec GmbH, said, “Wipotec started with the weighing cell, which was integrated into packaging and filling machines. Later, we moved into standalone manufacturing of checkweighers and X-ray solutions, primarily serving the food industry for weight control and foreign body detection. We provide track and trace systems for the pharmaceutical sector, including serialization and aggregation solutions.”

Speaking to Packaging South Asia about the machines on display, he said the combi machine provides manufacturers with a space-saving solution, combining contamination detection with precise weight checking at one point of operation. “This two-in-one system ensures efficiency for manufacturers,” Sharma noted. “It has two separate rejection mechanisms – one for contaminated products and another for underweight or overweight products. This ensures that the two are never mixed, maintaining high standards of safety and accuracy.”

He explained that while metal detectors find metallic contaminants, the X-ray scanner detects glass, ceramics, aluminum, and stones, offering advanced protection for food products.

Growth in food and pharma drives demand

According to Sharma, the industries Wipotec serves are on a strong growth trajectory in India. “India today is the world’s most populous country, and among the top five global food producers. Similarly, in pharmaceuticals, we rank third globally in terms of production volume,” he said. “Both sectors have grown tremendously in the past decade, and we are confident this growth will continue over the next five to 10 years. That makes India an extremely important market for us.”

As safety regulations tighten and consumer expectations rise, technologies such as those offered by Wipotec are becoming indispensable. Checkweighers ensure compliance with packaging regulations, while metal detection and X-ray inspection safeguard against contamination – critical in protecting both brands and consumers.

The company has partnered with Safe Automations Group, a local distributor, to strengthen its presence in India. “Our plan for the next two to three years is focused on expansion in Asia, with India being a priority,” Sharma explained. “We want to build strong brand awareness so that more customers know Wipotec and Safe Automations, and we aim to secure a significant market share.”

The strategy combines strengthening the distribution network, enhancing customer awareness, and providing tailored solutions for India. “Ultimately, our goal is to provide the right weighing and inspection technologies to help manufacturers maintain the highest quality standards,” he said.

Reflecting on the company’s first participation in ProPak India, Sharma shared a positive outlook. “This is our debut at the show, so we did not have prior experience to compare with. But overall, it has been quite good – we’ve received some very promising inquiries,” he said.

He highlighted the relevance of ProPak’s presence in Southeast Asia and the significance of the event taking place in Delhi-NCR. “ProPak is a big name, and this platform has helped us connect with the right audience from both the food and pharma industries.”
