Gurugram-based Kumar Printers adds Autoprint Checkmate 50 carton inspection system

Made in India solutions from Autoprint

Gurugram-based Kumar Printers has recently installed Autoprint’s Checkmate 50 carton inspection system. The paper and paper board packaging solutions provider caters to sectors such as pharmaceutical, food, beverage and FMCG, among others.

Kumar Printers was started by MK Bhargava almost 50 years back as a commercial printer and it gradually ventured into packaging about 25 years back. “Quality and service has always been our priority from day one. We do not claim to be the cheapest, but we definitely offer value for money to our customers. We cater mainly to the pharma segment along with food and FMCG sectors,” says Sandeep Bhargava, managing director.

Talking about Autoprint’s Checkmate 50 carton inspection system, he says, “The Checkmate 50 is a perfect ‘Made in India’ product. We found it trustworthy and were assured of prompt service support. It is also a very cost-effective solution.”

According to Bhargava, the Checkmate 50 has helped Kumar Printers cut down on inspection time while maintaining the required level of quality assurance. In addition, the system has ensured faster delivery of the right product to Kumar Printers’ clients.

“The Autoprint Checkmate 50 ensures 100% defect-free cartons, which is a major requirement for the pharma industry. We make folding cartons and the Checkmate 50 helped us cut down on inspection time while maintaining the required level of quality assurance. This means faster delivery of the right product to our clients. Deliveries are moving faster owing to a speedier checking process. Manual dependencies have reduced drastically,” he adds.

Autoprint Checkmate 50 can inspect print defects and foil errors. It can handle maximum carton size of 400 x 500 mm and minimum carton size of 100 x 100 mm. The machine can take paper thickness of 180 to 400 gsm and has a maximum speed of 250 m / min. Some other salient features of Checkmate 50 include bottom feeding system with vibrator, high-speed pneumatic ejection system with air jets for segregating good and defective cartons separately, vacuum belt under the camera for holding the carton firmly, air jets for removing dust and fluff from cartons and delivery stacker with servo control for stream stacking, among others.

Blanking machine added
Kumar Printers has a well-equipped infrastructure and in-house prepress, press and postpress departments. It has a 6-color Heidelberg CD74 offset press, a Fujifilm Lo-chem CtP system and Vijuk folding machine, among others. In addition to the Checkmate 50, the company has also installed a blanking machine recently.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.

As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.

It is the right time to support our high-impact reporting and authoritative and technical information with some of the best correspondents in the industry. Readers can power Packaging South Asia’s balanced industry journalism and help sustain us by subscribing.
