At drupa 2016, Italian firm Comiflex SRL and India’s largest global flexible packaging solution company Uflex shook hands to manufacture gear and gearless CI Flexo printing machines under a technology transfer agreement at the latter’s engineering plant in Noida, India. Speaking to Packaging South Asia, Uflex group president (corporate finance and accounts) RK Jain said, “Comiflex is an international company with expertise in manufacturing various kinds of flexo printing machines. With the transfer of the technical know-how from Comiflex, we will be producing gear and gearless CI flexo presses at our
Engineering Plant in Noida. The printing machines will be for both Indian and overseas markets.”

25305c71According to Jain, Uflex will also use some of these presses for its own operations. “The tie-up will help us produce sophisticated CI flexo printing machines which we feel will add value to our clients globally as well as to ourselves. It is only wise and strategic to partner with a company which has expertise in a particular field where we have an interest too. By adopting Comiflex SRL’s technology of gear and gearless flexo CI presses, we will be able to manufacture enhanced flexo printing machines that can be used by us, and we could market and sell them in an ever-growing market too,” he added.

Jain further said that the manufacturing of the new presses will take some time. “Hopefully it might take six months or so to complete the process of technology transfer and only then the manufacturing process will start. Subsequently we will manufacture the machines catering to our captive demand and also sell them in the market according to the demand,” he said. Based on Uflex’s experience and market analysis RK Jain anticipates strong demand for better and sophisticated CI flexo printing machines given the huge market for flexible packaging.
