At Labelexpo India, held on 17–20 November 2016, Toyo Ink Arets promoted its food grade inks. “Because now a days, people are moving more towards food segment, Toyo Ink Arets is focussing more on Steraflex—UV flexo inks. We are stressing our food segment inks over the normal inks,” says Devender Sharma, regional head, western region, Toyo Ink Arets. “Steraflex food series ink was launched about one-and-a-half years ago, and it is doing quite good in the market.”

Available in two grades—Steraflex and low migration Steraflex FOOD—the latest product portfolio from Toyo Ink Arets provides a complete range of process inks, opaque white and mixing bases to meet the growing global demand for UV flexo solutions. Both ink systems are designed to excel on today’s high-speed flexo presses, bringing spectacular speed, efficiency and economy to the flexo printing operation. The Steraflex series is formulated without ITX, Benzophenone and VOCs, making it an environment-friendly choice for today’s pressroom. Available globally, Steraflex is manufactured at Toyo Ink Arets’ state-of-the-art facility in Europe.

“Our main objective of participating at Labelexpo India is to promote the message that a label is not just a label on the product but is an art—it is about performing art on labels,” Sharma says. “The objective is also to promote Toyo Group brands. Arets is an entity which the Toyo Group has acquired a few years back; and Aret was exclusively into UV radiation curing. That is the expertise of Arets, and it has an expertise in food technology as well.”

Talking about food regulations in India, Sharma comments, “When we talk of food, today India does not have that kind of a regulation which you see in Europe and the US. But now because of Nestle and other multi-nationals and FDIs coming to India, a lot of food regulations will come in India too. Anticipating this scenario, Toyo Group has geared up with all the corrective actions. Hence, in case there is a demand in the Indian market in future, we will be ready with the product be it labels, flexibles or whatever.”
