SOMA to launch new flexo Imperia press
Soma Engineering of the Czech Republic will launch its new Imperia flexo press at drupa at the end of May 2008. The Soma Flex Imperia includes new technology from Soma for improved performance at high press speeds that will put the new wide web flexo machine at the top of the company’s range of presses.

At the Baddi-Nalagarh-Barotiwala industrial hub in Himachal Pradesh, we met V. Kishore Kumar of Baddi Print Packs (BPPPL), a sister concern of Pavitra Graphics in Chennai. Kumar and his operations manager Zaheer Hussain shared their insights on the new industrial hub and the considerable investments that they are making at their three units in Baddi.

Dusseldorf, 19 January 2008. From 13 to 18 January 2008 a combination of important and interesting drupa exhibitors put on a preview for more than 130 trade journalists from 40 countries. Formal presentations of the new technologies and products were interspersed with the usual mixture of show concepts, secrecy and hints. Some of the revelations were held back for special preview events that will be held in the next couple of months.

UPM Raflatac Inaugurates New Terminal in Mumbai
UPM Raflatac, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paper-based and filmic self-adhesive labelstock, inaugurated a new slitting and distribution terminal at Turbe in Mumbai on the 31st of August 2007. The terminal is designed to deliver a more diverse product range by slitting and rewinding labelstock to specific customer widths and effecting despatches within 24 hours. This will substantially strengthen UPM Raflatac’s service levels and distribution to the burgeoning Indian market. According to Jussi Vanhanen, Senior Vice-President of UPM Raflatac Asia-Pacific, “The investment demonstrates UPM Raflatac’s long-term commitment to the Indian labelling market. We believe our customers will appreciate our local supply of high-quality filmic labelstock range as well as our renowned range of paper laminates. India Label Show
The third edition of the India Label Show was held at the Pragati Maidan complex in New Delhi along with the first edition of the India AIDC Show between the 6th and 9th of December 2006. Concurrently, Label Expositions Private Ltd. – the organisers of the shows, also staged the international Info Label 2006 Conference on the 7th and 8th of December 2006 at the Conference Complex at Pragati Maidan. The Conference was put together and conducted by Alexander Watson & Associates (AWA) of the Netherlands, who are well-known specialists in market research and conferences.
