A new labelling technology from longstanding AIPIA member Securikett replaces conventional heat sealing with a secure labelling solution, it claims. The system combines multiple functions in a single label, offering a solution that is safer, faster, and more cost-efficient than traditional heat-sealing processes, according to the company.
The multifunctional label integrates structured adhesive coatings, VOID technology, silicone coatings, and custom die-cutting. This combination ensures tamper evidence, functionality, and compliance within one design, it says. Any unauthorized opening is immediately visible due to the integrated VOID effect, while features such as ventilation holes or viewing windows can be incorporated directly into the label.
A key innovation is the sealing mechanism itself, Securikett believes. Instead of a welded lid, the tray is securely closed by the label. The application is fully compatible with automated labelling or dispensing systems, enabling faster processing and reducing machinery and operational costs compared to heat-sealing equipment, the company explains. “We have combined multiple technologies so that they work together within a single label,” explains Vanessa Mitterer-Kling, head of research and development at the company., “This creates a packaging solution that is not only tamper-evident but can also be efficiently integrated into existing production processes.”
The company has also recently introduced a new addition to its IT’S PAPER series: highly translucent paper-based security seals designed to deliver effective product protection without compromising packaging aesthetics, it says The new seals are available with either a fibre tear effect or VOID technology, offering flexible security options tailored to different application requirements.
Until now, Securikett’s paper-based security labels were limited to opaque and semi-translucent variants. With this innovation, the company claims to have introduced highly translucent paper seals, further expanding its sustainable product range. The seals can be applied to folding cartons made of paper or cardboard, while ensuring that underlying text and design elements remain clearly visible. This enables brand owners to integrate tamper-evident features without the need to redesign existing packaging, says the company.
