Established in 1996, Meerut Packaging’s plant spreads over an area of 22 acres in Masuri village, 20 km outside of Meerut city. The company, which specializes in master carton-based corrugated packaging, plans to expand into monocarton packaging by 2024 with a planned expansion of its plant.
Explaining the company’s operations, Mahavir Agarwal, director of Meerut Packaging, said his brother Sandeep started the business. “I joined in 2002. We installed an effluent treatment plant and a hyperion treatment plant for filtering wastewater and reusing it in the manufacturing processes. Building the plant far from the city allowed us to acquire a big portion of land for production. It is the biggest plant in the Meerut region for cartons.”
Agarwal says Meerut Packaging follows all government norms such as sustainability, solar and green fuel. He said the EV forklifts they use in the plant are very economical with a low carbon footprint. “The buyer is the boss but our efforts are also to build a sustainable future with eco-friendly practices.”
With a focus on technology, Agarwal says they have the best of the lines for production. “We have installed the Fosber lines in corrugated, and for converting, folder gluing, and die-cutting we have Bobst lines and Thermex boilers from Germany. Nestle, ITC, Reckitt Benckiser, Havells, etc., are some of our key clients.
Expanding with monocartons

Meerut Packaging plans to expand its plant, which is only 23% of the original plan, Agarwal said. “By 2024, we are looking to expand in the monocarton segment, projecting higher production and sales. The expansion will include export-quality rigid boxes and luxury packaging. We are already trying exports through some of our clients in the FMCG and food business. We are consulting for information and opportunity to export directly to the Middle East countries,” he said.
The packaging industry is big and GDP growth should be the focus of Indian industrialists, says Agarwal. “We are working on a wide range of services in cartons in any possible size. We are suppliers of carton-based furniture and are willing to expand the business in that segment too. Markets are expanding and so are the choices available to the customer. In such an age, the markets that reached out to us during Covid-19 have stayed with us. After the lockdown was imposed, we were able to work at 70% capacity by the first week of April 2022, following all government rules and regulations. This is a testament to our perseverance and a statement that we are here for the long haul,” he says.
