Mumbai-headquartered Parksons Packaging showcased and promoted its end-to-end solution for gable top packaging at the recently concluded India International Dairy Expo (IIDE) 2019 that was held in Mumbai from 3-5 April at the Bombay Exhibition Centre.
Marketed under the brand name ParkPak, the gable top cartons are mainly used for packing items such as milk, yoghurt, liquid eggs, soup and syrups, among others. These cartons can also be used to pack dry products like sugar, cereals, pet food, detergents and fertilizers, to name a few. Made of recyclable virgin paper boards, the name gable top comes from the fold at the top which looks like the gable end of a house. Originally designed to pack fresh pasteurized milk, this became the standard packaging in many countries for fresh milk and juice.
Parksons, which has been one of the leaders in the folding carton segment, ventured into gable top carton segment about five years ago. The gable top cartons under the ParkPak brand name are manufactured at Parksons’ Chakan plant near Pune.
“We are India’s first company to offer gable top carton solution. Our customers are some of the biggest producers of dairy products in India,” says Pavan Kumar Singh, general manager – Liquid Packaging Business of Parksons Packaging.
ParkPak gable top cartons are used to pack premium products such as A2 and native milk and alkaline water.
“We are also working on gable top carton solutions to pack regular water, regular milk and detergents. In the last few years we have seen a very good response to the gable top cartons mainly because of the environmentally friendly nature of the packaging,” adds Singh.
Gable top cartons are a superior alternative to many traditional packaging solutions and have several advantages such as better branding, convenience of transportation, storage and use and also they are environment friendly, Singh argues.
