The new rotary vane vacuum pump R 5 RD 0360 A will be making its debut at the IFFA to be held from 7 to 12 May 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany

Busch will debut its new series of rotary vane vacuum pumps designed specifically for packaging machines, offering energy savings of 20%. The new RD series is based on the proven technology of R 5 rotary vane vacuum pumps, which have been the industry standard for decades in food production and packaging. Technical optimization of individual components has allowed energy consumption to be reduced significantly without affecting reliability and robustness. At the same time, the pumping speed of individual models at high vacuum levels has also been increased, which for meat product packagers means reduced cycle times and lower energy consumption.

All components requiring maintenance are mounted on one side of the unit for easier access, thereby reducing downtime. The cooling air circulation has also been optimized. The exhaust air outlet may be directed sideways or downward, depending on how the RD is built into the packaging machine. A gas ballast device fitted as standard equipment permits the extraction of humid air, making this vacuum pump ideal for the packaging of fresh meat and other moist products.

The new Busch RD rotary vane vacuum pump is designed with hygiene in mind – unit surfaces are easily cleaned, and allow water and detergent to drain away rapidly without residue. An optional ‘Hygienic Package’ permits the vacuum pump to be steam cleaned to extremely high levels of hygiene.

The focus of energy efficiency is not confined to the vacuum pump. As a competent partner for vacuum in the food packaging sector, Busch views energy management according to ISO 50001 in terms of a comprehensive approach that demands an understanding of the entire packaging process. Busch therefore offers operators a vacuum audit free of charge.
