GEW, a manufacturer of UV curing systems, highlighted its new LeoLED2 and showcased its conventional technology for narrow web and sheetfed markets at Printpack India in Greater Noida.
Talking to Packaging South Asia, Gary Doman, international sales manager – sheetfed, GEW, said he expected the exhibition to be good, but it turned out to be great for the company. They received several serious inquiries. The LeoLED2 also received decent attention.
“Indian markets are full of energy,” Doman said, “I see the market growing with an increase in sales of the new machine as well as technological awareness. We are big in the narrow web market, not just sheetfed. We see both markets full of energy. I see several sustainable initiatives.”

According to him, the LeoLED2 elevates LED performance significantly over GEW’s water-cooled LeoLED system. It offers a 55% increase in electrical power, a 50% increase in UV dose and a 45% increase in UV irradiance. He claimed that compared to its predecessor, LeoLED2 is GEW’s next-generation UV LED curing system that guarantees the best performance on the market for the most challenging curing applications.
As with the generation 1 model, LeoLED2 is available in both a cassette and a compact version, depending on the requirements of the customer’s equipment, and application. Both models are designed to interchange with every current arc lamp model in GEW’s range. This ArcLED technology provides considerable flexibility on the press, irrespective of the application.
Alongside the show, the company’s sales director was meeting a Japanese OEM for a huge project. Doman said GEW Global aims to dominate the curing technology market in India. “We want to dominate the Indian markets with the biggest market share in the narrow web and sheetfed industry. We have observed that the competition is fierce, but we will be fiercer.”
Football at the show, he said, was relatively good. “I have noticed here that compared to other parts of the world, visitors come late. In the mornings the crowd is thin, However, by the afternoon, it gets packed. We plan to participate in the upcoming editions too. The next time we hope to showcase in the main halls.”
