Sanjay Gupta, head of corporate procurement and packaging development team at DS Group, has announced the publication of his book titled Responsible Packaging – Unpacked, covering the evolving landscape of the packaging industry.
This is the first publication of its kind in the industry to consolidate over 200 authenticated references and digital resources covering ESG frameworks, plastic waste management regulations, FMCG sustainability practices, Big 4 research insights, and Global packaging and policy guidelines, Gupta announced.
Created as a comprehensive and practical resource, the book is designed to support industry professionals, academia, policymakers, and packaging stakeholders in navigating the evolving landscape of responsible packaging. The book has been released globally in both paperback and eBook formats on Amazon Kindle and international digital platforms.
In the book, Gupta elaborates on how packaging touches every life, every day — often without us noticing. It protects what we consume, informs what we choose, and increasingly shapes how we care for our planet. Yet, behind every package is a story of design, decisions, and responsibility. This book is an outcome of years of listening, learning, experimenting, and sometimes failing — all in the hope of finding better ways to balance performance, cost, and environmental care.
According to Gupta, the thoughts in these pages are shaped by conversations with colleagues, mentors, young professionals, and changemakers from across the globe. It represents a collective journey rather than an individual achievement. He says it has been authored with deep inspiration from the vision and values of DS Group, to whom this work is dedicated.
“If these words spark even one new idea, inspire one small change, or encourage one more person to think differently about packaging, then the purpose of this book is fulfilled. The journey toward responsible packaging is ongoing, and each of us has a role to play. This book is simply an invitation — to reflect, to experiment, and to keep asking, “How can we do better?” he says.
“Sanjay Gupta’s Responsible Packaging – Unpacked is a commendable effort that combines deep industry experience with a clear, forward-thinking vision for sustainable growth. This book offers invaluable guidance for businesses and policymakers toward a more responsible future,” says Dr Ranjeet Mehta, CEO and secretary general, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the foreword.
“…a timely contribution, inspiring professionals to embrace sustainable packaging with purpose and innovation,” says Jayant Jain, HOD, department of materials science and engineering, IIT Delhi.
“A timely, insightful book that turns packaging from a passive container into a strategic tool—blending sustainability, technology, and real-world case studies,” mentions Tanweer Alam, additional director, Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP).
