At the DuPont stand at drupa there were a great number of solutions including digital inks, textile printing, flexo imaging, processing and plate materials and anti-counterfeiting technologies. We focussed on the flexo plate and security solutions in our brief time at the stand. We were on our way for a second visit to the stand on 6 June when there was a disruption that prevented access to halls 8A and 8B for a few hours.

Cyrel Easy simplifies flexo prepress by building the flat top digital dot directly into the plate, resulting in increased productivity and consistency. The Cyrel Easy portfolio includes plates for thermal and solvent processes with both engineered or smooth surface options.

DuPont’s global marketing manager for flexography Andy Kannurpatti said in his presentation at the stand, “With Cyrel Easy flexographic printing plates, customers no longer need to trade productivity for quality. Our customers, whether they use solvent or thermal, are now delivering on the high expectations of quality without lamination or special UV exposure during platemaking with these plates. This is a brand new platform that uses breakthrough technology that simplifies and benefits platemaking as well as printing operations.”

The new Cyrel Easy plates perform well on flexograhic presses with the ability to render high solid ink density and smoother fade-to-zero highlights. These plates come up to color very quickly and minimize start-up waste. Kannurpatti emphasized that, “The increased tonal range of the new plates are especially useful for a fixed color pallete.” He also and spoke about the Esko XPS Crystal 5080 new generation LED exposure system for use in combination with the Cyrel Easy plate.

DuPont also introduced its new Cyrel 2000TD digital exposing system at drupa 2016. DuPont’s digital inks that are experiencing double digit growth with vibrantly printed textile products shown at the stand, as were its Izon anti-counterfeiting security films.
