Uflex, a pioneer in flexible packaging started its packaging machinery business in 1984. Packaging machinery has four categories. Horizontal and vertical form fill seal machines are the first category; wrapping machines such as flowrap, over wrap, on edge, family pack, candy wrapping machines are in the second category; the third category comprises special purpose machines such as pack fill seal, and vacuum brick packs; and, the fourth category consists of semi-automatic machines such as VNS, flexo matic, band sealer and mini-rotary
sealer.
At Intelpack, Manish Sharma, marketing manager, Uflex, said, “We manufacture all types of packaging machines and in printing we manufacture rotogravure printing, lamination, slitting, doctoring rewinding, inspection and embossing machines. For our clients connected to the food, chemical, and sugar industries, machines such as special purpose pick fill and seal are being displayed.”
A fully automatic machine for packing powder, granules, liquid and paste in pre-formed pouches like centre seal pouch, three side seal pouch, stand-up pouch and zipper pouch was shown. With a speed up to 60 pouches a minute, the machine can easily change from one type of pouch and from one size to another without any tools.
Another machine shown was the FFS CT-90 fully automatic collar type form fill and seal machine. With its alternating motion it is designed to pack products up to 1 kilogram in a centre seal pouch. This machine is appropriate for a range of heat sealable films which include packing material such as pet/poly/metpet/ poly and laminates with aluminium foil and BOPP. The PLC controlled machine has a user friendly MMI (man machine interface). Various filling systems such as volumetric cup filler, auger filler, weigh filler, gravity matrix and spool valve can be fitted.
All the machine parts are made of food grade stainless steel SS304 / SS316. Options such as a hot foiling unit, batch, cutting unit and counter can be provided. The servo drive mechanism in the machine for laminates pulling through friction belts, give a speed of up to 45 to 55 pouches a minute depending on the product characteristics and filling attachment. Various products like tea, sugar, spices, snacks, wafers, detergents, henna powder, salt, wrapper candies, and cheese biscuits can be efficiently packed by the machine.
“We believe in zero defect and wastage in a machine. Methodology and metallurgy are the two important parameters in machine building. Methodology means a system of methods used in a particular area of study and metallurgy means how the parts are converted from the raw material. Our machines have a very good shelf life. We also provide customization by offering tailor-made machines and ensure that our clients are satisfied. To survive for 35 years as we have, the only mantra is to have good feedback from our clients,” concluded Sharma.
