Mumbai-based Electronic Devices displayed its newly developed online cap sealingmachine, Sigma Jet at Pharma Pro & Pack Expo 2015 held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from 13 to 15 May. The company has a 20,000 square feet manufacturing plant in the Mumbai suburb of Andheri. Electronic Devices, which has a full-fledged R&D department, introduced a cap sealing machine for the first time in 1989 which it supplied to Procter & Gamble for Vicks Vaporub. The company now supplies to major firms such as Cadbury, Nestle, Gulf Oil and Shell among others. It also exports to more than 50 countries in both developed as well as developing regions of the world. In addition to the cap sealing machine, the company also offers induction heating solutions and makes welding inverters.

The completely designed and manufactured inhouse Sigma Jet cap sealing machine was launched in the market early this year. “It is among the fastest cap sealing machines in India currently with a speed of 280 bottles a minute. Anybody who is looking for a high-speed, high output machine should consider this machine. It can be easily integrated with filling lines of all major brands,” said CK Subramanian, vice president, marketing, Electronic Devices. The machine can handle cap sizes from 20 to 120 mm. Some optional value added
features are – no cap detector, bottle jamming detector, no foil detector, bottle counter and batch processor.

According to Subramanian, Sigma Jet meets global regulatory regulations including those of the USFDA, European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & Health Care (EDQM) and Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australia. The company is supplying this machine to all major countries in the world. Apart from the pharmaceutical industry the machine is used by companies in the food and edible oil industries. “The response we have seen for Sigma Jet since its launch has been very encouraging. We have supplied multiple machines to many companies and some serious discussions are underway to supply more machines,” Subramanian said.

In addition to Sigma Jet, Electronic Devices also showed another cap sealing machine, Sigma Pro, which is a semi-automatic machine. Speaking of the Pharma Pro & Pack event, Subramanian stated, “We are happy with the quality as well as number of visitors at the
event. A lot of serious leads were generated especially for our new machine.”
