Pune-based Nichrome, a leading company in manufacturing of form, fill and seal machinery has recently launched two products, multi-lane Stickpack and Filpack Servo 12K. Raosaheb Rayanade, associate vice president – sales and marketing division at Nichrome Packaging states, “Nichrome’s multilane Stickpack with Multi Piston Filler is a stick pack pouch packaging machine for liquids and viscous products. In 2006, we introduced our first product in the market for single-service packs and a decade later we have opted for a more compact system which is available with ten lanes with each lane offering a speed of 35 packs a minute.”

Stick packs and stick pouches are convenient for today’s on-the-go consumers. Not only is the stick design far more appealing than those of conventional pillow pouches but it also has the practical advantages of ease of opening and dispensing products without spillage. The usage of stick packs is projected to rise in the coming years. The response to stick packs has been overwhelming in hotels, resorts, catering businesses as well as eateries. Stick packs are ideal for many products including chocolates, coffee, cocoa, spices, sugar, salt and ketchups. Talking about the benefits of stick packs, Rayanade says, “The stick packs offer consumers convenience as the crimped edges tear easily and the narrow package enables users to squeeze out the contents without making a mess.”
Nichrome’s Filpack Servo 12K packs milk in 500 ml pouches at the speed of 12,000 pouches an hour. “In 1977 we came up with the first machine which offered a speed of 1,200 pouches an hour. Presently, the volume that is stocked every day is over 1 million litres of milk packed in pillow pouch formats. With the help of Flipack Servo, milk and other liquids in pouches are available in the market and the additional modules have a speed of up to 18,000 pouches an hour. Both multi-lane Stickpack and Filpack Servo 12K are CE-compliant and constructed in stainless steel to meet standard norms and offer automation solutions which drastically reduce the operational costs,” says Rayanade.
